I'm happy athletes have more rights these days and they're no longer 'trapped' at their original school by the old NCAA rules which required all transfers to sit out a year (and in some cases lose a year of eligibility), and permitted their coaches to decide which schools they could not transfer to.

However, the portal also reinforces the inability of so many athletes who cannot handle delayed gratification and who have a 'play me now or I'm outta here' attitude.

As they say, anyone can start something. The hard part is finishing something. The ability to work through adversity is one the most valuable lessons young adults can learn.

That said, it's complicated and I do believe there are many legitimate reasons and athlete is better served by changing schools.
I'm fine with them being able to transfer wherever they want, after sitting a year.

I just hope were a net positive in the portal. If that happens we should be good with the young talent.

(SIAP) The person who feeds me info had this to say:

Sanders - outspoken parents think he should’ve been getting the ball more

Norton - look for him to try to go to Boston College, where his high school QB plays

Gaines - “knucklehead”

McGee - overrecruited

Hanika- was threatening to sue ISU at first with the gambling saga, probably not exactly welcome anymore.

And they said two other players of note are getting “illegally” recruited by schools. Thanks NIL. One sounds firm with staying at ISU for right now, one does not…

Interesting. No idea who the two are but I'd assume Rocco would be a very hot commodity on the open market given that his freshman stats are similar to those of our very own Big **** Brock. Fortunately for us, Rocco's family probably doesn't need the money, so hopefully we can keep him happy with opportunity and strong relationships with staff.

Cooper and Brahmer would be my guess

So if it's illegal, what is the punishment? Is there any? I'm sure proving anything is probably impossible.

Not exactly sure.
just a friendly reminder to those that have a sour grapes attitude about players transferring out, we will have players transfer in. they aren't all bad apples. everyone has their reasons, both for staying and for transferring.

really bummed about norton and sanders. they were really coming on strong towards the end of the year.
I don't get worked up about players leaving, but I refuse to let them come back (If it was my choice).

Rocco’s family being rich certainly doesn’t hurt. Some guys leave because the monetary value really helps their family.

She was everything I dreamed of - gorgeous, hard working, smart, funny, conscientious, sexy, from a great family, perfect in every way.

With that being said, I wish 'er the best. I'm entering the Marriage Portal.
"Hey honey, remember that cute yoga instructor that moved in down the road? Well I'm going on a recruiting visit."

I can agree with that
I think the release process should go something like this.

Athlete tells the school they're leaving. School grants the release but you can't transfer in conference or any FBS on the schedule in the next 2 years.

School suggests you look elsewhere they can go wherever they want.
