My guess is that it wouldn't fit in the car so they thought it would run behind the car. Yeah, nope.
Either way, abusive and disgusting behavior on their part.
The way I remember they pretty much hooked it up to a chain and drug it around some country roads until it died. This was a small Iowa town back in the 80s so it was a pretty big deal.

Imagine how they treat the Pledges in that house. Let alone other people.

OSU needs to really investigate this and throw the ******** off campus. And if it was a House-sanctioned event, the Frat needs to go as well.

If that's the case, I hope they were severely punished. It's a short step from abusing animals to abusing humans.

Testifying
Wonder what the original beef between these 2 frats was. Who had the highest lifted trucks? Whose grandfather owns more ranch land? Who has the most bedazzled jeans? Who listens to more douche country?
I see what you did there.

Punishments for animal cruelty are very light. I remember a story from when I was in college where a couple of idiots broke into the Story County animal shelter after hours and killed a bunch of cats with baseball bats. I have two cats and that story still disturbs me.
They got away with a slap on the wrist because the judge valued the cats at less than $500 or something like that. Their parents basically said "boys will be boys" type of statement. Infuriates me to this day.

Killing cats in an animal shelter with bats is ****** up. Dumping an already dead cow in somebody's yard as a frat prank is very tame compared to that.

I'm chiming in for whatever it's worth.

I lived in a Fraternity at ISU all four years. I take it nobody on CF has been in a Fraternity or been inside one?

So much angst and drama here. Dudes being stupid is all this is. Happens in the dorms too. People being stupid.

"Expulsion..., closing the charter of the Fraternity",... wow

Not the best idea in the world to dump a dead cow on the lawn of a rival, but who am I to judge. I put catfish in our rivals pool.

I'm reading Among the Bros right now. It's about the greek scene at College of Charleston and is pretty interesting and deeply disturbing.

Honestly I didn't have much interaction with frats or sororities while I was at Iowa State. They seem pretty stupid. A friend's husband was a Farmhouse person in the mid 90's and I always thought they had a good reputation. AGR was always the 4-H kids and that was not the vibe I was going for in college (and I was a 4-H kid).

I have a legitimate question for all the, "It's just a prank, bro" respondents. The article says this has escalated from squirrels and raccoons to this today. Presumably, if it doesn't stop, Farm House has to go bigger with their retaliation. A squirrel or raccoon won't suffice anymore. I don't know what it might be. Maybe a horse? Maybe 2 of these longhorns? Cat or dog? At what point is it no longer ok? At what point is it no longer just fun little frat boy shenanigans? Where is the line, in your opinion?

JFC.......I think your pearls have been sufficiently clutched at this point.

Grew up in central ND, middle of winter some guys picked up a skunk that got hit on the road, put it on their classmates car, and poured water on it. Frozen solid in the middle of the hood.

Teenage boys are ******* idiots.

I think this post needs a jump to conclusion box. That’s exactly what happened. Truth take it or not was a dead longhorn steer was picked up from said fraternity and left at said fraternity. Animal Gags have been going on all year. If you look at the pic, the wound was there for sometime. Timing sucks but let’s listen to the media and go with the story vs using common sense and take the high road.

Back in the 90s an aTm frat stole and slaughtered Bevo the steer and served it at a BBQ the week they played Texas. Hard core.
I'm skeptical. Internet says Bevo was cooked and served at a banquet about 100 years ago, but wasn't stolen. He was stolen in 63 but was returned safely. Thinking if this happened in the 90s it would have been a **** storm even then. That wasn't that long ago. That's an animal that has value. I doubt Texas would have just been like "Awe shucks, you got us!".

Yeah I'm with you on this one. Army/navy have a long known tradition of stealing each other's mascot with I think the worst happening of them getting dyed a different color than normal.

I can vouch for this...we did some really dumb things during my time in the dorms. Not a this level, but really dumb.

It’s actually called a fraternity. What do you call your country?
