I understand the coach speak BS, but why come out and say theres nobody, when clearly there are? Super confusing
It's semantics. It's a matter of it being a surprise to us or a surprise to the staff.

At least I think that's what's going on here. Could be wrong and they could be all running around like that scene from The Office.

Good for Quaron. We didn't have a role for him here which makes taking him hard to understand. Go play for Jedd Fisch and have a blast.

Guarantee you some of these guys either just didn't want to disappoint the coaches when they ask or they talked to their family over the weekend.
I would take what Campbell said with a big grain of salt. There’s probably players that are still making their decisions (case in point Adams and Cosby today)

What I am optimistic about is it sound like Blum (from the pod yesterday) secured the big targets (Cooper, Brahmer, Orange, Verdon).

Bummer about Adams, but if he wasn’t able to find a role in the team this year, I think it would be tough next year too.

Honestly, I could name at least another half dozen players that SHOULD hit the portal. Not that I want them to. But if your main goal is to play and you're not going to play here, you might as well take advantage of the transfer rules. Now, if you enjoy being a part of the program and want to work your a$$ off to prove the coaches you can play at this level, by all means stay. I just think that if you're a D1 CFB player and you don't see the field for 5 years, it would kind of suck. Might as well move down a level and actually get on the field.

Doesn't mean Campbell knew or expected there to be more.....some team with $200K to burn was maybe told no by their first two choices this morning when their current teams ponied up to match the offer.....on to the next guy.

Yep this could definitely happen.

I don’t think this applies to any of the guys who have gone in for us yet though. I can’t imagine Adams is getting much of a bag

Its possible Campbell knew these guys were hitting the portal when he answered that question but had no idea who actually announced something on Twitter and who didn't.
Also, keep in mind, that they don't have to tell the coaching staff anything. They can just roll into the compliance office and have their names entered and the compliance staff can't do anything about it.

I think the bitter truth is coaches are more focused on the guys that are contributors that are being recruited elsewhere. Before some accuse coach of not being truthful you need to look at the whole picture. Players may not let on they are considering leaving until they decide to leave.

The 85 scholarship rule, 25 per year. Does this still hold when teams lose a bunch of kids to the portal?

Adams is a bummer as we all wondering what could be with his speed profile...

What I would love to know if what percentage of WR's that produce on a college football Saturday are below 5'8" and weigh 175 lbs or less.. Likely a very short list.

The 25 annual limit got suspended indefinitely in 2021 when everyone suddenly had to do COVID math around scholarships. They voted this fall to keep it that way. It doesn’t make sense to not let a team fill all 85 scholarships if they get pillaged in the portal every year.
