That would be a bad beat for KSU, starter enters portal because OC prefers Johnson, OC takes the Aggie baggie and leaves, now you have to race to fill an OC position in time to convince Johnson to stay, but the portal closes in a few weeks so he could easily leave anyway.
I don’t know if this is an original, but… well done. *Thisclose* to coffee out the nose and all over the laptop.

Its not just the OC that prefers Johnson. Howard is a decent QB - but Johnson's dual threat ability - yeah. That is something that Howard just doesn't provide at the same level.

Also, Klein is a fine coach. I don't see him as Hoiberg, I don't think he's a Saban or Kirby or anything like that but I think he's a solid coach.

Also - Kleiman is way too smart to let Howard leave without A) knowing people are going to be looking at Klein and B) making sure Johnson is locked in.

Klein's offense is Kleiman's offense.

Klieman is a defensive guy. Klein’s offense is Bill Snyder’s offense.

I agree Klieman had to know Klein would go at some point. He’ll be the coach at K state someday. Doesn’t make sense waiting around 10 years for it as OC.

That doesn't mean its not his offense, essentially. Yes, Kleiman is a defensive guy. But the idea that means he doesn't have a vision for the offense is kinda short sighted.

Kirby's a defensive guy. Nick's a defensive guy. Yet their offense has evolved and changed during their tenure due to their ability to adapt and change to what best suits their team and they find a coach to give them what they want

How does West Virginia, one of the poorest states, have a billionaire donor who donates to sports.... jealous
Ken Kendrick got his business degree at WVU. He became a billionaire and bought the Arizona Diamondbacks many years ago.

Problem is he was born in 1943. So WVU's access to a billionaire donor isnt infinite.

Coach Hines has Greg Gaines in the portal…. I had missed that, he was a BIG get for us…
I realize he didn’t get hardly any snaps this season but he was supposedly a stud coming in. Ugghh

Not exactly sure.
If we now have the best coaching staff ISU has ever had, a couple of these guys will leave and win at least 1 Super Bowl. Jimmy Johnson was here under Johnny Majors, won at least 1 Super Bowl. Was there another coach that did that ? I don’t remember. But, I do think our current staff is very good.
Not showing Pete Carroll any love???

Im pretty sure there's an endowment set up. OK State received 120 mill from the T. Boone Pickens foundation last June. He's been dead since 2018

Same with that Texas A&M oil endowment thats pumped out of the ground daily

im not sure what the kstate NIl situation is, but you dont want the Aggies dialing in on your staff and players. WVU is supposedly in a very good place as NIL goes, but i doubt Ken Kedrick wants to play a game of dare with a bunch of fanatical aggy oil tycoons.

Problem for kstate is avery Johnson is special. Aggy just paid 76 mil to get rid of Jimbo. what will they pay to get the qb who may win them a natty?

I mean colin Klein is as kstate as it gets. i bet the check the aggy wrote to get him is BIG. and im sure aggy promised Klein goldilocks would come with him.

and klein will know who else to steal from kstate as well

the only good news is wvu plays kstate next year, and that's looking like a win.

Bingo. You put $1B in an endowment, and you can pull out $50M annually essentially forever. That's a 50% upper to your typical school's AD revenue. Huge advantage.

And now, you can have half (or more) of that go to NIL and be absolute top shelf on that front as well. All it takes is one guy who thinks it's fun to be that guy.

Imagine if the next paypal app is from an ISU grad who makes $10b and decides it would be fun to have $50M annual for NIL...

Coach Klieman: "Avery, you going anywhere? Or is the $500k we're giving you good enough?"

Avery Johnson: "I'm good coach! Already turned down $1M from Penn State!"

Coach Klieman: "Great!"

Maggie VonAggiebaggie: "Avery, how does $5M sound to come to A&M with your buddy Colin?"

Avery Johnson: "Do you have a pen?"

That's true. But at the same time - IDK. I have a feeling he stays. Could be wrong.
