Legit happy for the crowd. Ames can get way up for a big game, regardless of sport, but we know sometimes it doesn’t end well. That ass beating had to be amazing to see in person.
It was glorious. The best moment was when Gilbert scored in the paint, Lipsey stole the inbounds pass, and Gilbert immediately hit a three. Timeout. Juicy Wiggle. The place just went nuts.

I like the part about how some people on CF (who shall now remain nameless) had a "bad feeling" prior to the game.

Cue the Superiority Dance.

I will admit I was one of them, I figured EIU would come out and light it up from 3, and ISU would try to get into a running game with them.

I was wrong, I loved the way TJ game plan for tonight was to attack the rim, and then keep doing it. EIU never had an answer to taking it at them instead of laying back and bombing away. Not only did it get them in foul trouble, but they never adjusted to what we were doing. I have no clue why EIU waited so long to go into a zone, when their guards were just getting abused but they never did the entire first half.

We’ve always had players the we look at and say how can these Iowa dorks defend our guys but they actually do. Well tonight Tre King , Rob Jones, and Keshon Gilbert lived up to the eye-test and Iowa had no answers for them.

Other than Sandfort’s ability to shoot and make open shots, that Iowa team is a ******* mess. I didn’t see more than 2, maybe, 3 D1 players out there tonight. Maybe our defense was that good, but I don’t know. They were just straight up ass. Their PGs look like they should be playing for Coe or Wartburg or something. Been a minute since I’ve seen an Iowa team that completely inept.

Rob and Tre dominating knowing/hoping we have Ward back in a few weeks.

Also just seeing that Gilbert can match the relentless play of Lipsey. What a potential backcourt going forward.

If Milan shoots it like he has any other game this thing gets REALLY out of hand.

Shoutout to my dog. Wanted out, went ballistic over a cat. Finally got him in, asked husband what I missed, he said more Caitlyn Clark slobber during a men’s basketball game.:puke:

The game was amazing.

But in the press conference seeing Gilbert react after Rob told him the crowd gets louder than it was tonight was the best moment of the night.

Edited to add that the bad part about the new way you have to build a team is that with a lot of the transfers you only get them for a year or two. As a fan, you fall in love and then lose them. But the good part of that is it is fun to see them experience Hilton. And because they have seen other places, they always are so appreciative.

Freeman is a good muscle/hustle guy but I think their fans are elevating him beyond that because the roster is rough. Sandfort is a good shooter but has no business trying to run with lipsey, Gilbert and even Pav.
Pat McCaffery’s reaction to Milan’s corner 3 toward the end of the first half. Completely helpless.

Unlike Connor I think PMac probably should at least be a role player at this level, but I barely noticed him tonight. Really disappeared. Did he get injured or just completely ineffective.

I think my favorite part came from the post game show. Keshon said before this the best crowd he played in front of was a road game in the Mountain West conference. It sounded like the crowd tonight really meant a lot to him.

On ESPNu post game he said “I love Iowa state so far”. Seemed really happy.

Even when he missed outside shots tonight they looked less forced.
