At one point he was screaming "9 to 2" at the refs when Iowa had had 9 fouls called on them to 2 on us. Savage Eric Heft said something like "well that's what happens when you commit more fouls". Legend
9 to 2? Whining about the foul count? That's the best he's got? He needs some new material

Glad to see Pav getting more minutes. Tamin, Gilbert, and him are complete combo guards. All have pg skills and can put the ball in the bucket.

Pav is getting more minutes. Deservedly so. He is better than Curtis Jones. Jones launches too many ill advised shots. And does not make them. And Pav has really stepped up on defense. Pav has increased his minutes and we are better as a result.

Not totally disagreeing here, but Curtis has really dialed that back in the last two games going 2-3 against Depaul and 2-5 last night (stat lines of 6 pts, 3 rebs and 4 pts, 4 rebs). I think we can definitely live with that given the all around play he gives us.

I'm guessing that there will be nights when we need him to come up big in the scoring department as the year progresses.

It's really a pick your poison from the defending team's standpoint. You really have to put your best on the ball defender on Lipsey or he is just going to carve you up. That leaves your second best guy to defend Gilbert and 3rd to defend Pav. And unless you have some great defending guards, we're likely to win all three matchups.

I thought we orchestrated the offense beautifully last night. When Iowa brought help to contain the guards, we dropped it inside for our bigs to carve them up. When they didn't, we'd just blow by them into the paint. By mid-game, Iowa had to abandon all thought of trying to defend the three point line, so we had rhythm threes whenever we felt like it.

There were elements of this stuff at DePaul.

Hopefully it keeps building as we approach January.

This group may still struggle with more athletic teams but can still find success in a 'sum of its parts' kind of thing.

Iowa and DePaul are by far the 2 worst defensive teams in Power 6 conferences. That's about my only takeaway from the last week of basketball.

We've got about 3 weeks now before the real season begins.

Way better basketball IQ. Pav usually looks to drive and dump it off first. Having 3 guards on the floor that can do that is going to be tough to defend. Gilbert doesn't need to dish. Take it to the rack every time with him. Honestly, the best handles I've seen in an ISU jersey. Call these 3 Ghidorah

And his team totally takes on his personality. His teams have always been extremely mentally week. They don't handle adversity well and are easy to "out tough". If you watch them, they all take on the attitude of their coach. Nothing is their fault, it's all the refs fault. The difference is especially jarring when they play Iowa State and you see a team that doesn't pout, doesn't make excuses, and just plays their tails off every possession.

Wherever I go, there I am.
No. Knew nothing of that. What’s he dealing with? Show me some evidence that Watson is injured other than message board stuff.

I think you’re throwing stuff against the wall to see if it sticks. I think he’s healthy.
I don't give a **** what you think. Youre the one throwing your typical gloom and doom against the wall. Carry on.

I deleted my post because I realized the posts I was mentioning were from scattered posts on the premium board. Apologies.

Also, I did not say he is currently unable to play. Obviously he did.

I love Gilbert, especially becuase he knows how to obliterate an "and 1". But, it will be a VERY long time before you see a Cyclone match Tinsley's handle.

I liked that play were he was penetrating, probing, pulled back out and found the opening for the score.

We're talking about basketball, right?
We could, but it's not quite as stimulating.

Watching him play Tinsley is the only player I've seen I can compare him to. Not bad company.

The look on Patty Mac's face when Momcilovic drilled a sideways sliding three from the Iowa bench corner with about 3:00 to play in the first half:

Unfortunately for Mac, there's not a damn thing he can do to prevent that shot. Undefendable. Sometimes your opponent is just better.

His coming out party was the VCU game when he was inserted in the 1st half. I’m not going to lie, I was a little stunned with the decision—but boy was it the right one! He’s going to do well the rest of the year. I’m just concerned with how he’s going to handle the rigors and physicality of Big 12 play.
I love how hard he works for his touches.
