The Worst Movies Ever thread started discussing movies with lousy endings. Curious if anyone saw this yet and had thoughts on the ending.

It was definitely… polarizing

I didn't see it myself, but David Samson covered it in the movie review segment of his Nothing Personal podcast (great pod if you want a behind the scenes take on current pro sports topics, btw).

He had less than glowing things to say without spoiling it and his ultimate advice was to "leave Leave The World Behind behind."

Not a huge fan. There's a scene, especially I didn't care for.

But at the same time - I get that its a movie that has a right to exist. Someone made Gone with the Wind, someone made a Birth of a Nation, etc... its up to each and everyone person to decide if they like it it or not. There were some OK parts, and then there were parts where I roll my eyes. IDK if it makes the worst thing ever made list but its certainly not something I'll rewatch

There were interesting ideas in the movie. I took it as an allusions to the Tower of Babel. It's also cool how the paintings in the house change between scenes to reflect the rising tension.

I think the ending could have been better from the mom's POV as I really disliked both of the kids.

I thought overall it was good but too many loose ends. they just zapped all the story lines that were going on.

I read this article this morning and agreed with everything

Having read the book I have been looking forward to seeing this, and still will. The book left a lot of ambiguity throughout, but the atmosphere and tension was great.

id say dumb and dumber

at least in the mist you had some closure to what happened to the characters and the story.

Dumb and Dumber is one of the best endings of all time. I’ve never seen The Mist, so can’t speak to that.

This ending I would call extremely frustrating. Overall the movie comes across as kind of pretentious, the ending just solidifies that

The ending is intentionally ambiguous; to be determined by the viewer. Writers/directors think they're so ****ing clever when they pull this sh*t. Meanwhile, audiences generally hate lack of closure.

Interesting enough story, plot. Worst ending I have ever seen. Seriously ruined the entire movie. Just stupid bad.

This is a good summary of the frustrations with the movie.
Continually introducing plot elements that don't seem to go anywhere, or ever get resolved.
