IMO it was less about Brock’s play and the absolutely atrocious play of 49ers secondary. PI’s constantly bailing out the Packers. And completely blown coverages. Once the 49ers quit doing that crap is when Love completely caved and lost the game.
Yeah, in the first half I think there were at least 3 occasions when a 49er dback slipped and fell, leaving a wide open receiver. One of these occasions resulted in a Packers TD.

Jordan Love 0-3 in his first 3 red zone appearances. One turnover and two field goals. tsk tsk can’t do that in the playoffs Jordan.
Ehh, one can also argue some stuff was a little shakey and not Love's fault. Carlson missed a fg. Jordan bad throw to Kraft tipping a ball. Refs miss a blatant offsides in the neutral zone (this was on the 4/1 spot) that should have resulted in a first down, even MLF should have kicked a fg here at minimum. Savage dropped a likely pick 6. I negate the lack of noticeable missed facemask call because GB scored on that drive anyways. Tom is asked to leave the game, affects last 4 possessions/results. This game was pretty close to going the other way. 10 point swing. But GB didn't take advantage of those opportunities per usual and SF didn't make as many mistakes. Happy for Brock, but 9ers winning again leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Not all his fault, but the last play was beyond his fault, and even on 1st down. Woof. Brought back memories of Favre, 2.0.

I agree, but with the caveat that BP is a huge anticipation thrower.

A lot of incompletions look worse than they actually are for Brock when the conditions are bad. So… sometimes, it’s a wet ball and he just doesn’t throw it that well. Sometimes, a receiver is slow on their route or gets bumped and it looks like BP throws it to nobody.

Brock played just “okay” for most of the game and then turned it up on that last drive. Love played pretty well for most of the game and then threw a really bad pick at the end.
Yep, there were a few throws that were thrown to a window and the receivers simply couldn't make the cuts fast enough to get there. That resulted in throws that looked really bad, but in reality were where they had to be.

When Brock lead the team back at Cleveland on a game-winning drive and the field goal kicker missed a 40 yard dead center field goal to win the game, the overwhelming consensus is that was Brock’s fault.

so not sure why it isn’t Jordan Love’s fault for throwing 2 terrible INT’s and having his field goal kicker miss.

Coming back from seven points just isn’t a big enough comeback. Let’s see if he can do a 21 point fourth-quarter comeback with one hand tied behind his back and no Deebo and Aiyuk, with practice squad receivers. And why should Brock get a Hall of Fame left tackle to make his job easier? Trent Williams has to sit before the comeback even starts. But that’s not entirely fair either because why should Brock get such an amazing head coach to help him? So Brock has to take the speaker out of his helmet so Shanahan can’t communicate with him. That’s the only will know for sure.
Now the haters are saying they have more concerns about Purdy after this 4th quarter come back win. They say they worry that Purdy will mess it up and prevent Niners from winning the Super Bowl. So according to these losers, only way Niners can lose is if Purdy screws up.

Absolutely, Brock did his job in Cleveland and led a beautiful last minute game winning drive, only to have their kicker miss a 40 yard field goal. 40 yard field goals are converted at an 85% success rate in the NFL, but their kicker blows it and suddenly the haters start up the "he can't come from behind" bullsh*t.

Because I didn't place the Cleveland loss on Brock, while national pundits did. That's the difference. The QB can't willfully make the ball go through the uprights, so Brock did everything he could to win that game. As a leader, I'm sure he takes blame, but kickers have 1 job, and if they miss a game winner, they should at minimum share the blame.

Because the goal posts always move. It's crazy to me. Brock is 20-5 as a starter and has appeared in 2 championship games and will have to fight the game manager narrative for years to come.

During the losing streak their defense fell off more than the offense. Went from elite to bad. The offense just went from elite to so so. They really succeed and fail as a team.

I don’t think he was in the neighborhood of Allen. Allen was keeping Buffalo in the game with his legs big time. Plus he had some big passes that were dropped by Diggs and got no help from his D (or kicker for that matter)
Well, first, the 49ers had 5 drops in the Packers game.

Second, this is the trap everyone falls into with Allen. They see the great plays he makes, and they are incredible. There are things he can do that nobody else can do. But in the end a QB has to string together a bunch of quarters of consistent, accurate throws.

He had some drops, but also their yardage was overwhelmingly from him running and throwing passes at or behind the LOS. He's never been able to string together enough consistent football without fumbles, interceptions, or stretches of inaccuracy.

Yesterday he got away with a fumble, multiple missed reads on open crossing routes trying to force the ball downfield and one, if not two passes that should've been picked.

It’s funny that we rarely see it go the other way. Maybe we should see the title of “Game Mis-Manager” used for some of the top pick/physical specimens that can’t make magic happen out of thin air or win the big game.

Josh Allen is a turnover machine and can’t get over the Playoffs hump. Hmm. Dak Prescott is making $40M and is 2-5 in the playoffs. Trevor Lawrence laid an egg and Jax missed the playoffs with 6 bad losses to end the year. Justin Herbert is 30-32 with zero playoff wins.

It’s like people have cognitive dissonance and can’t accept that their assumptions about Brock are wrong even when faced with evidence to the contrary

Blows my mind that people still rank TLaw in an upper tier when he hasn't done squat. They still live in the past days of him playing at Clemson. Ok, he got a pass his rookie year under a poor coach, but now gloves are off. He still doesn't look that great. But, here's your yearly pass TLaw, bc you're a first overall pick. Brock, I'm sorry that you're playing above your pay grade/draft stock, but you sir are just a measily game manager and the only reason you have stats are bc of the insane talent around you. CMC is so good that he hands the ball off to himself as well as dumpoffs too. Aiyuk/Deebo/Kittle are so good they can throw themselves the ball with all those YAC yards and TDS right out of their breaks! Insane how good they are and average Brock is!

This is the most ridiculous Purdy hate I have seen.

But, but, but, these QBs don’t have incredible talents around them like Purdy.

Who is going to hate that? It’s true.

No one is saying that he was elite all game. Everyone is saying that it is not indicative of his overall season or his future.

It was an average game. He’s been well above average for 12 games this year. No reason to assume he’s never going to be good again.
Yep. I agree with your entire post. Just a lot of hand ringing over some comments made specifically about this game and some seem to think it’s not fair to criticize Brock.

I’ve been a 49ers fan longer than I have an Iowa state fan and can think of 3-4 things that could take the blame before Brock had they lost. Just wanted to point out it’s ok for some to criticize Brock.

Big time. That was an unacceptable performance by the defense.

Felt like SF made some adjustments in the second half that gave him some trouble. Lot fewer wide open receivers running around.
Yep. Oline provided zero protection and Brock had hands in his face with seconds.

Since NFL games are 60 minutes long, not 54, your point seems irrelevant.
Your point kind of makes my point. Sometime players can play well for 54 minutes and still lose. Just like a player can have a good 6 minutes and lead their team to victory. Doesn’t really make player B have a better overall game.

Special teams didn't have a particularly splendid game either. Blocked (tipped actually) field goal attempt and allowed a huge return on that (kick or punt - can't remember which) - the one that was fumbled then recovered by GB.

Also interesting nobody seems to point out that GB had two fumbles that they were very fortunate to recover. One on the pitch in the backfield that fortuitously bounced right back up to the dude that fumbled it. And the above mentioned one by the returner.

Two "almost turnovers."
