I think Self threw a few wrinkles at us late that forced us to make great individual plays, and fortunately we did just that
I think in the end it’ll be a three horse race.
Houston, Iowa State and Kansas. To be perfectly honest with you probably in that order. I think it’s a complete fluke Texas Tech is on top right now. They’re good, not that good. BYU is the best sub-five hundred conference record team right now. The Big 12 is loaded!!

Hasan at times is Chris Webber Lite imo with his ability to make that kind of play so smoothly.
Another note that interested me was that we didn’t pressure the ball nearly as much as I expected. Probably due to respect for KU’s ability to make you pay for it, but maybe also due to confidence that we could generate offense in the half court too?
Kansas has always been susceptible to some early- and mid-conference season lulls. I actually think a great environment like Hilton gets an experienced, veteran team like Kansas to focus vs. a place like UCF.
I think their style of offense is the type that can give ISUs defense some challenges. The great movement without the ball and good passing from the big is what is needed to take advantage of ISU's D.
But in the end, our guys played great, hit huge shots, and TJ and Co. had our guys ready to roll. While we had plenty of ugly half-court offensive possessions, there were also some really nice plays to get good looks.

Just watched the extended replay, and I gotta say, the game is so much more fun to watch when players have freedom of movement. Kansas plays good defense. ISU of course plays good defense. But the freedom of movement in this game made it aesthetically pleasing.
For all his faults, Larry got it and loved being a Cyclone.
Never got anyone being down on this squad. TJ has done great things with far less talent. When I saw the same defensive intensity and an offensive pulse/some shooters early, this easily seems like TJ’s best squad.

Just got home and SIAP earlier in the thread but can someone explain the free throw situation when Self got the T? Seems like we got shorted 2. My thinking was: 2 for the shot foul, 2 for the flagrant, 2 for the T. But we only got 4 I believe.
Agreed and it was a good decision. A cou0le of times it worked near the base line, but trapping Dickinson can be disastrous as he's a good passer and KU rotates well. They missed several wide open shots, especially in the first half. We trapped a lot less in general, and even more so in the 2nd half.
You don't get 2 extra free throws if it's upgraded to a flagrant. You just get the ball after.
I don’t think you get an extra two for the flagrant, but you retain possession.
You just get 2 for the foul, even if flagrant 1, and the ball, then 2 for the tech on Self.
Could potentially result in a 7 point possession. Lipsey made 2 of 4 FTs. Milan hits a 3. Got 5 out of it.
