I don't know if Indy Car is better racing or not, but I'll tell you one thing, I'm not watching a race broadcast filled with commercial breaks.
NBC is the worst. It's too bad they have the Indycar contract. I tried to watch some of the 24 hours of Daytona this past weekend. I had it on in the background when I was working in the garage. Every time I looked at the screen, it was either a full blown commercial or the split screen. I get it, it's a 24 hour race, sometimes not a lot of action and I wasn't sitting and watching, but the two hours I was in the garage, I saw maybe 5 minutes of no ad running. NBC has ruined Indycar for watching on TV, it's constant commercials or split screen as well.

I'll be interested to see what happens after the 2025 season, when the ESPN contract is up. I really, really hope NBC doesn't get it's hands on it again.

I think it's a bummer that they didn't let Andretti in, but I really don't care if there's another American team or not. I'm a Mclaren fan, but honestly more than anything I find myself just rooting for drivers I like based on the circumstances each week.

I am no so big on it being an American team. I am big on having more competition. Haas sucks, Andretti would not suck. I am confident Andretti would put a competative car in the race.

I'm seeing some stuff on Reddit that Toto is talking with Alonso. Seems pretty early for the 2025 shakeup to start but I guess it's happening.

It's not a given that an Andretti team would just be good though, I imagine there's a reason why so many teams aren't competitive as it is.

Possible. I know it would never happen but it would be nice to see Hulk get a shot at Merc. I just want to see what he can do without driving a piece of crap
I agree but it'll never happen. Merc will promote Andrea Kimi Antonelli if he does even marginally OK in F2 this year; I don't think they'd be interested in taking a flier on Hulk (as much as I'd love to see it as a Hulk fan).

Yup, they are pretty certain Antonelli will be their Max. I think they were hoping two years then Lewis would retire and Antonelli could come in after 2 years in F2, or winning F2 this year and then being a reserve/Williams driver for a year. He’s that big of a prospect.

This seems to indicate Lewis not being sold on the Merc path forward and/or deciding he wants to carry on into the next regulation set.

When I saw the Hamilton news I thought it was just another joke meme or something.

Just started watching the Netflix series last weekend. Almost done with season two.

I like the show and I’m starting to really like F1.

But the competitive imbalance seems… gross.

Think of it more like several classes of cars all being raced at once. The bottom teams aren't really focused on fighting against the top teams during the races, which is why you will see some race cars not trying to hold off verstappen or lewis during a race when they are ahead. They know they wont stay ahead, so they save their tires and dont put up a fight. They are trying to beat the other lower tier teams. Every place in the overall standings has large financial implications, so even a handful of points during the season can be the difference of millions of dollars.
