Making 2 BS shots and playing shoddy defense isn't exactly helping the team win. In fact we won in spite of him playing.
On the second bolded line there IS NO POINT in a game, other than garbage time, where Pavs should see the floor. We don't need to "see how he'll do" as we already know what he will do: give a subpar performance relative to (better) available options on the bench. Yes we had a big lead but as we saw the other day, and have seen numerous times in Otz's tenure, it's never safe to assume a first half lead is insurmountable on the road (it wasn't).
Everyone defending Pavs is talking in circles, almost as if they are pals sticking up for their best friend. He simply doesn't have the athleticism or size to be anything other than a liability defensively and his best case scenario is that he treads water offensively.
Instead of saying "hey, he sucks less than he usually does" or "if we are going to put in a substandard player doing so with a big lead is better than putting him in during a close game", you need to ask yourself if it's smart, necessary, and/or if he's the best option we have. The answer to all of those questions is no. This isn't the first conference game it was the 9th. We've seen enough already. All we can hope is that he gets a lot better for next year. If not it's a wasted scholarship.
