For pointing out that BRE wasn’t the only one having a bad game? Am I also an ******* for saying Watson had a great game? Both are true but one gets me labeled an ass-hole. Some of you people are dumbasses.

This was a great game. It showed just how resilient and tough minded this team is. We will play much prettier basketball, but we just wore out OU with our relentlessness. I love seeing Watson see the success he had last night. I think he has the potential to be really good and I hope he stays at Iowa State given he should have more opportunity next year.

Watson was great. CJones again made some big shots. Ward staying out of foul trouble (in a game RJones and King were in it) was huge. Depth won this one.

Hopefully that is the worst offense we'll see the rest of the year.

I would guess the next three games will be weird too. A bit of a February swoon but this year they can find ways to score.

Even if the guards didn't have it going, they're still a threat to get to the hoop which opens things up for others.

At this point in the year I just want wins, don't care if we score 58 points and shoot 33%. I was worried about this one, for whatever reason this mid OU team is just a bad matchup for us.
They defend well, are athletic, and are long. That makes it hard on our guys trying to score in the paint, either the posts or the guards trying to finish.

People talk about being vulnerable to high volume 3pt shooting teams (and theyre not wrong) but this team is also vulnerable against those kinds of defenses- athletic and long. Those nights, its IMPERATIVE that they shoot well from 3.

Highly concerned about UCF, gonna need to light it up outside. On the road.

UCF is a great defensive team, and has some serious interior size. Hopefully we can hold our own on the boards, and turn them over for some runouts (turnovers are their weakness).

Lipsey finished 2-13 with 0 assists and 0 turnovers. Gilbert finished 2-11 with 7 assists and 1 turnover. Many of their missed shots were like assists as ISU had 15 offensive rebounds. I would guess close to 10 of those offensive rebounds were turned into points via put backs by Watson and other opportunities.

We missed a lot of bunnies though. Many were wild drives, but some were just point-blank misses on good looks.

In my opinion, we were fortunate we were playing OU tonight and not a BYU or a Kentucky. We shot horrible too, but in the first half OU was under 30% from the field and 0-7 from 3 (on some good looks as well). They finished 33% from the field, 17% from 3, and 64% from the FT line.

We still beat OU by double digits with our F game and poor shooting. I feel like BYU would have buried us in the first half with how we were playing. That’s why those teams scare me more.

I see we're still only calling moving screens on one team.
That moving screen foul on Rob, was close, but right. AND it was Lipsey's fault. Executed perfectly, a split second later, there would have been no call. The ball handler is responsible for about 30% of the moving screen calls (just a guess from observation in the NCAA). You have to let your guy get set with space for your defender to not get "run into" etc.

We're pretty good at that, but we have room to improve.

Rob was shoulder checking dudes on those screens. I'm not shocked he got called for fouls.

You could tell ISU's guards were looking to open up from 3 last night but didn't have the look because OU's guards could disrupt without having to do much.

Dare I say I'm leery of a 1st round tourney game against a directional/mid-major team that has similar kinds of dudes that went there for playing time and can be a problem.

If I were to pick a 2-1 finish I'll take the loss at UCF, and win the last two in revenge vs. BYU and rubbing KSU's face in the dirt.

I'm not saying to throw the game (I think ISU can still win without him in a one game situation) but I wouldn't be upset if Lipsey sits Saturday if his injuries really are hampering him.
