Just a thought on these refs and UCF in general: With refs being regionalized I have to imagine these southeastern refs have no clue what to expect from the rest of the big 12 coming into town. And then it’s got to be equally crazy for UCF to go on the road and just get put into an immediate fist fight.
UCF is like Wal-Mart Houston/ISU. I think they are comfortable in a rock fight.

But I do think any officiating crew that doesn’t do many Big 12 games is probably going to be overwhelmed when an ISU or Houston come to town.

This is actually going to be an advantage of the new B12 being so spread out - we will see all types of officiating. But keep in mind, while there aren’t “league officials” in CBB, the B12 has worked to recruit the top officials to consistently call games throughout league play so the teams can be more prepared for what they’ll be getting in March.

The younger ref TJ was talking to before the game has had a rough year. I’ve watched him officiate non ISU games and he’s just been bad.

Their bigs didn't bother us as much in the first half as I thought they might. Some of that was foul trouble. Their guards were a bigger issue. Johnny Dawkins leans on the full court press because they aren't very good defensively in the half court. Iowa State needs to cut down on the turnovers, but so far, so good.

How can Zach Edey (halftime content) be the most dominant player in CBB history when he can barely win a first round game his entire career?

Can you imagine any 16 seed beating Fizer his junior year?

Really good half, wouldn’t be close if we weren’t turning it over. Still, you have to force some things against their defense and if you can onto it, they’ll foul you.

Best thing to happen is Rob Jones being okay though
I thought BRE got a concussion. :(
Glad he appears to be OK.

I've had a similar kind of whiplash type of injury, his neck is probably getting stiffer as time passes. It'll be something to watch with him in the second half.

I though concussion first, but after watching a couple replays, I thought he just got his neck bent pretty violently at an angle, which probably hurt pretty good and scared the hell out of him

And he's in his early 20s so that kind of thing heals in 15 seconds.

Thank goodness TJ doesn't recruit anyone over 35.

Agree: anyone saying this should never speak about basketball ever again. If you’re 7’4” you’ve got to do better than 24 and 11 to be considered one of the most dominant ever. And - to your point - getting absolutely killed in the tourney.
