Would they put Arizona as a 3 in LA? That would be a road game for us and then have UNC if we win. That doesn’t sound great to me.

If Tennessee is ranked above us, they go south because they are closer to Dallas. If we are above Tennessee, we go East because Boston is closer than LA.

That is assuming Marquette is ahead of us. If we beat Houston and Marquette loses to UConn, we would jump them to the Midwest.

I think 1 seed is a real possibility. Even if UNC wins, our resume is neck and neck with theirs. If UNC loses, then our resume is solidly above them.
I don’t think so. I think the 1s are set. I said after the K-State loss, I thought if we had won that game and the Big 12 tournament, we could have been a 1 seed. I didn’t think it was in play after that. I will admit that if UNC had lost today, I might have been thinking about that again…but I just don’t think it’s possible now. I could still see us as the top 2 seed though…

Yeah, I think the K-State lost cost us any realistic chance at the final #1. I mean, a lot of people dropped us to the 3 line (and in some cases out of Omaha) after that loss. It's quite the jump to go from the 3 line to the 1 line in one week, and while we got a lot of help, I don't think we got enough help.

You are probably right, but why?

Iowa State would finish 10-6 in quad 1 and 6-1 in quad 2. Worst loss would be a neutral site game against Net 60.

UNC would be 9-3 in quad 1 and 8-3 in quad 2.

Iowa State would have better tops wins. UNC has far worse losses.

At a minimum, Iowa State is right there with UNC. Maybe they decide it's so close that non con SOS comes into play.

I think the non con SOS and the name on the jersey are the reasons why. Having RJ Davis doesn’t hurt. I’m not saying UNC is a better team. I just don’t think we have a chance. If we had beaten A&M…

Forgive me for what is probably a dumb question but if we get placed in Omaha it’s West or East region for us, correct?
We can go to Omaha and still go to any region.
We won't go south because of Houston.
West will likely be UNC and Arizona
Leaving us, Tennessee and Marquette.
With that we go East, Tennessee south and Marquette MW unless we can jump both those schools then we'd get MW, Marquette south and Tennessee East.

I have no idea if beating Houston is enough to get us to the 6th overall seed, but it's now the only way we avoid UCONN in Boston.

Fans and media think the name on the jersey matters more than the selection committee. UNC might be ahead of us, but not because of the name on the jersey.
