Mullets will crush it in the West Towne spot.

I agree that West Towne was never more than average, they just had that neighborhood cornered. But I was always grateful for their existence when I lived on Mortenson and couldn't the Vikings on the Des Moines Fox channel.

Oh wow! Where was this located? Was it somewhere in west Ames? I have a vague memory of going to eat with my folks at a sitdown restaurant somewhere in west Ames in the early 90s but I've never been able to piece together now what the place was that we went to.

4923 Lincoln Way.

Between North Dakota and Thackeray, on the same frontage road as (currently) Jax Outdoor Gear and KD Billiard/Game Room.

If it’s anything like the Mullets in Ankeny, don’t get your hopes up. Different owner than Des Moines Mullets and menu is much more limited

Yes they are franchised out now.
I believe the Fareway CEO's wife is involved in that aspect.

Sad to see Little Taipei go but I can’t say I did my part to keep it going.
One funny story I can share. I did business with a Taiwanese trading company and the owner was white but spoke Taiwanese which might be less common than mandarin on the island these days. He goes into Little Taipei and starts ordering in Taiwanese and the girls behind the counter looked at him like he was crazy. He starts giving them **** about how can you call yourself Little Taipei yadda yadda. It was a funny interaction to witness.

I've been a regular at Little Taipei since I was in high school, sad to see it go. I went yesterday for lunch and then again today.

I wonder if at some point they will tear that and kum and go down to build something bigger.

K&G has been "going to move across the street" forever.

Krause/K&G have owned the old post office and Hardee's/Blimpie's/Keg Shop/Battle's building since 2013.
