As we all know the Big 12 will have an uphill climb ahead of us going forward. These non conference games against the rest of the Power 4 leagues are going to be incredibly important to be competitive going forward. If we are going to want to be a 2-3 bid league we will need to win some of these games. Here is the list of the games Big 12 fans should follow:

Week 1

TCU @ Stanford - W
WVU vs Penn State - L

Week 2

BYU @ SMU - W
Kansas @ Illinois - L
ISU @ Iowa - W
Okie State vs Arkansas - W
Cincinnati vs Pitt - L
Colorado @ Nebraska - L
Houston @ Oklahoma - L
Arizona State vs Mississippi State - W

Week 3

West Virginia @ Pitt - L

Week 4

TCU @ SMU

Week 6

UCF @ Florida

Updated Standings:

vs BIG10 1-3
vs SEC 2-1
vs ACC 2-2

Very interesting that only 4 of the 13 games are at home. Will be a very tough non-conference slate. We all know they will use our record against the other P3 leagues to judge how many teams we get into the playoff. Let's hope we can steal some of these away games. The only one I have a hard time seeing a win is Houston @ Oklahoma but the rest wouldn't shock me to see a win. These games are early in the year so weird and wacky things can happen.

UCF at Florida
I think this one could be interesting... UCF has been wanting this game for a long time, finally got it on the schedule and it's expected to be a bit of a down year in florida (we will see). I believe florida scheduled a 2 for 1 over the next 10 yrs with UCF. So this is 1 of two home games florida gets. They do not play again until 2030 & 2033. With UCF getting the home game in '30, Florida in '33.

Even if florida is down, it would be nice to see a B12 team get the win there.

Looking ahead the next two years:

UCF: UNC ('25), Pitt ('26)
Ari: KSU only non-con P4 team next 2 yrs (previously scheduled non-con game)
ASU: Miss St ('25), Tex A&M ('26)
Bay: Auburn & SMU ('25), Auburn & SMU ('26)
BYU: No P4 Non-Con games next 2 yrs
Cinci: Neb ('25), BC ('26)
Colorado: GT ('25), GT, NW ('26)
Hou: No P4 teams next two seasons (they do play Oregon St.)
Kan: Mizz ('25), Mizz ('26)
KSU: Only Ari next 2 yrs (do play Wash St in '26)
OSU: Oregon ('25), Oregon ('26)
TCU: UNC, SMU ('25), UNC ('26)
TT: No P4 teams next two seasons (they do play Oregon St.)
Utah: Ark ('26)
WVU: Pitt ('25), Alabama ('26)

Not a lot of big time non-conf games on the schedule the next couple of years. I do think that getting these home & home series will be harder to schedule going forward too. I think the conference has to consider trying to get big time opponents on the schedule if they can. I just think the in conference games will not be as valued even if 90% are just as hard as they have been.

Most impressed by WVU's schedule. They have Pitt & PSU this year and Pitt next year, then Alabama in '26 and '27, then Tennessee (neutral site) in '28.

BYU and Utah have opennings to add to their schedules the next couple years. So, maybe they will add some P4 games.

Oklahoma State has alabama in '28 & '29. Hou plays LSU in '27.

Updated with wins/loses

Overall fantastic weekend for the big 12! The Cincinnati game is the only one that we really should have won.

We need to schedule other P4 teams for our non-con games. Let’s stop messing around with small schools and go take on some exciting matchups.
