It really depends, if you are short on time, a drive any distance probably isnt going to save a lot. You may find more selection in one place, But then you can also hit several different tents and get more selection.

If I was going to make a trip out of it, I would go to Fireworks Superstore in Hannibal. Otherwise about any full time store will have a decent selection. Personally I would go to the fireworks stores across the road from Sheltons first. Avoid TNT for anything major, Phantom has some good stuff but is expensive, they have some crap too, but most have those too. Stick to name brands like Brothers, Winda, Pyro Planet, World Class, Red Rhino, Pyro King, Pyros Pride, Shogun, Legend, Big, Dominator, Great Grizzley, Canon, Supreme, Cutting Edge. To name the ones off the top of my head. Some of these brands are more regional.

Canister shells are the "loudest" consumer shells available. Excalibur Shells usually are decent. (make sure you load them correctly or you are going to have a bad night!)

Real M-80s are banned and have been for a while. Anyone selling anything that resembles a M-80 is most likely just a firecracker, in a bigger package.

Dont get fooled by a so call 5 inch tube cake, if you actually look in them they are just a tube in a tube, they put a smaller tube hidden in a big tube to make it look bigger, the legal limit is far smaller than 5 inches, you can actually get the maximum powder load allowed for consumers in a ball about 2 1/2 inches. Anything over 3 inches is just a gimmick. (professional fireworks not included)

There are black markets and hot loads out there but I am not going to go into that.

And for the love of god stop giving little kids metal sparklers!!!
I am like a kid in the candy store when I go to the Fireworks Superstore in Hannibal. Always amazed how cheap it is vs the local stands and border stores.

I have been considering going wholesale for a couple years now, but I haven't pulled the trigger. Just an fyi for future residential deliveries, you can request to pickup the order at the shippers terminal and avoid the extra lift gate charge.

The only reason to go to missouri to buy fireworks is if you are outside if the buying window in iowa.

Darwinism

Do stupid things win stupid prizes.

This is why I think all these warnings and safety laws are dumb. If you are stupid enough to set a mortar off from your head, or stick your head above a mortar tube or cake, or give a 3 year old a metal sparkler, you get what you deserve.

None of these should ruin it for the rest of us.

If you are the ******* setting them off 10 ft from your neighbors house, then you deserve to get punished, but this doesnt mean everyone should be punished for your stupidity.

I have never been a fan of the punish the masses for the few idea, but every year we hear about the 10K injuries....most of which are burns to kids from sparklers.....as an excuse to limit or ban fireworks.

The neighborhood I was in had an incredible firework haze

Unreal how many fireworks were popping off.

Missouri would easily win a war against Iowa.

Here's my stockpile. I tend to go overboard. And with the drought last year I didn't light any so they all got saved for this year. View attachment 130987

And of course these.

Looks good, but as someone who has had katos in the past, Some of your racks are not going to handle one well. The ones with no bottom board, and any with no spacers you are asking for trouble, I would makes sure you have no people or property anywhere closer than at least 100 yards from those, probably more like 300 yards.

Without spacers and good support for entire tube, a Kato will blow apart the rack, then you have guns laying all over the shoot site firing in all directions. Not a good night, for you or your insurance company.
This is what you want your racks to do in the event of a kato, absorb the detonation.

Otherwise nice looking show. I recommend investing in a electronic firing system, it is a game changer!

I've used them before. Going to add a bottom board tomorrow before I use it this year.

I also have a remote ignition so I can light from a safe distance so even if the things go wrong everyone is at a safe distance. Used a cheap one off ebay for a few years now. Bought an ignite system this year

Also a mile away from the closest neighbor.

Ok, so I don't end up on the news down the road, what's a Kato?

I also got an Ignite system this year and it's a beautiful thing.
