They had trouble establishing the Olympic standard in the 1500 because she has so broken the scale. She's got something like the 32 fastest times in history in the event so there's no clear definition of what world class even means in the event anymore.
She's incredible.

Related: I love that her name is all over the pool records hanging at the downtown Y in Des Moines. I point that out to my daughter every time she swims.

USA looks much more sharp today. Sudan is a tough team.

Shayok missed some close baskets toward the end there. Would have like to see him throw some of those down.

Marchand is a ******* stud!!!!!
I went back and looked at Phelp's Olympic performances.

2008 in Beijing where he won the 8 gold medals. 7 of those were world records. 4 individual and 3 relay events. The 8th gold he set an Olympic record. Good god.

There will be other great swimmers. I don't see how anyone ever comes close to touching what Phelps did.

You cannot argue with results so far, and you can tell Tyrese is as happy as always...but if you were going to look at whose minutes he'd take if he played more it's probably Steph. Which is probably why there's little chance of it even if Kerr wasn't the coach.

They're the best 3pt shooters along with Durant and the two who shoot from the deepest spots, Tyrese facilitates offense and runs a break better, as great as Steph is creating his own shot Tyrese really can too. They're both passable perimeter defenders but the worst at defending in the paint, Tyrese probably worst on team in that area.

I'm not at all complaining, just as a fan of Tyrese if I logically think about whose skills he overlaps it's Curry more than guys like White and Holiday who can really lock down somebody.

Hopefully this Olympic play can get Shayok another look from NBA. No reason why he can't be a role contributor off the bench in the NBA.

When he played G league it wasn't like he just got by, he dominated it.

But Bronny gets 8 million guaranteed lol.

What I'd give to see Bronny go head to head with Burton or Shayok the next couple years while they're still in their primes.

NBA is a business. Sometimes winning doesn’t make the most business sense.

I've assumed Haliburton and Tatum are on this team mostly for 2028 prep. They are great players now yes, but they need to be around those older guys to prepare for 2028.

I'm kind of a Tyrese superfan and watched or listened to most of his nba games.

I have to admit a guy like White, while not as valuable to an NBA franchise, is really an incredible fit for this kind of team. On offense Tyrese is an amazing player for this sort of team too, but you can't ignore defense in the situation where other than Canada (who is stacked equivalent to an NBA team) a team is going to need some players to just go out of their mind shooting to beat the US.

Phelps is like Marchand's biggest cheerleader. He was happy when Marchand broke his 400 IM record.
