Leave it to the Brits:

Meanwhile, across the channel, servants of the Viscount D'Bidet enjoyed somewhat better working conditions.

They kept the position until 1901?! Lol! Royals are weird.

Some poor bastard had to cut film of the Iowa offense last year week after week.

You're on to something here. Groom of the Stool has many of the same qualifications (and perks) as being a Ferentz boy:

"Perhaps surprisingly, it was the sons of noblemen or members of the gentry that were usually awarded the job. Over time, they came to act more as personal secretaries to the king and were rewarded with high pay and some great benefits such as the right to lodgings in every palace"

I mean being a slave at any point in any country probably takes the cake.

When Mangino was on staff, did ISU supply a Groom of the Stool for him?

Yes. Towelie had the job before starring in South Park.

Eh, wipin' the kings butt had its perks.

But what about the salt-peter men? No ritzy digs (ha) for them.

...to produce gunpowder, the industry relied on the Saltpetre-Men. Those men collected urine and dug out latrines to obtain potassium nitrate, a key component.

Well it did say that the position morphed into more of the King's private secretary so it probably only retained the name in 1901.
You don't think calling your private secretary groom of the stool is weird?
