Not exactly sure.
One of the sexiest spirals you will see in any game. His arm is underrated. We absolutely have one of the best QBs in the country.
Notice how McNamara threw a hail Mary from around midfield and couldn’t break the 5 yard line with it? Dude can't run, no arm strength and is inaccurate. Sounds like a good 600k per year to spend.

This stalled drive after the 75-yard TD by Noel stood out to me. Jaylon Jackson had 3 nice runs setting up 2nd and 5 at the 50. Then we handed it 2 times to Carson Hansen for 1 yard each time. The only explanation I have is the coaches were thinking we could get close enough to go for it on 4th down.

It worked out as we punted it down to the Iowa 13. Then Iowa went 3 and out. We had a short drive leading to Konrardy's 46 yard FG.
Hansen has proven he's a north-south runner. The stretch run where he opted to got outside, imo, would've been an easy 1st down had he just turned it up inside. At least the TV replay showed a large enough opening to get the 1st down. I'm ok with using him in short down situations if the formation allows it.

I think my favorite part about this win is Iowa State just gave everyone the blueprint to completely shut down Iowa's offense. McNamara is not going to beat you. Stack the box and lock their receivers down and they are just as bad as last year on offense.

I fully expected to see a time out there. First-year kicker, high-pressure situation, long FG attempt, KF on the sideline - all the signs pointed to “ice the kicker,” but they didn’t try it.
Hmmm. If I recall correctly, the last time he DID ice us as we kicked the first one (i.e. follow through) wide right. And as fate would have it for KF, on the second attempt pure gold.

It looked like a designed sweep that I thought was actually a good call, but Iowa defended it really well. We had the blockers out there, but they strung it out and Hansen never found the cutback. I thought that was going to be the death of the comeback. We had a really nice flow and then ran it three times.

I went through Iowa's schedule this morning. My god, what a cakewalk. They can still go 10-2 which I guess is good for us.
True as always. But what is different this year is that our schedule doesn't exactly look like murderer's row either. I'm assuming KU will drop out of the top 25 after the loss yesterday, which means we only have 2 ranked opponents left. I wouldn't fault anyone for looking at that and saying ISU still has a lot of issues, but with their schedule they will probably end up 10-2.

I agree, but how long have we had to play a top 15 schedule? It's about time we got a break on the schedule. It's been a staple of the Iowa program for a long time.

It ranks as one of my favorite games because of how painful it was/is for Iowa fans. They got State'd. It was a masterclass in "**** around and find out". It's also why we lose a lot of similar close games.

They have every bit of emotion and momentum on their side with like 95% odds of winning at half time. They came out and things looked like we might move the ball but no reason for their fans to get scared. And then we promptly took a jack hammer to their balls in the last 30 seconds.

While this is probably the only time I'd ever say this phrase, it works... sometimes, somebody else's tears can taste like champagne. Maximum pain = maximum pleasure!

Watching the game winning kick again, the clock is supposed be started on the snap, the kicker already has kicked the ball and its in the air and the clock is still at 9 seconds. Now its possible that it was at 9.9 seconds, does not show tenths of a second, but it sure looks like they did not start the clock until well after it had left his foot and is flying towards the goal posts.
