We won the game and I'm not crying too hard about this but I really wish we could have tested their defensive backs a little earlier. The slant in and then running by the stationary safety was brilliant and I really think we could have done that all day. They were not respecting our passing game at all. I wish we could do more of that double move with our receivers. They are quick enough and good route runners.

Also, the first down on our last drive we had, Noel caught it going to the side line. Next snap we ran the same formation, and the DB turned for just a second to see if we were throwing outside again and Noel was up the sideline. The 2nd play was setup perfectly by the first down play. I really think our receivers can play that game all day and win. It was beautifully executed by Rocco.

End of the day we won the game, but I really hope we will try to stretch the field more giving our running game a better chance to be successful.

The older I get, the less I get upset about mistakes or missed opportunities. It's an imperfect game played by young adults. We played well enough to win (and did). I trust the coaching staff and players to learn from this and build on it. Campbell's teams generally get better as the season progresses. Thankfully we got to learn some lessons early in the year while also winning.

One deep ball is all we needed. Campbell obviously had the game under control the whole time and knew that we had Iowa exactly where we wanted them from the opening kick. Just because you couldn’t see the plan until it was fully executed is not a problem of the plan. That’s a you problem.

Iowa tends to keep that kind of thing covered up. ISU must have seen something and went for it.

Went more the current KU style (at least last year) of answering after an Iowa score.

I also think Rocco's quick release in those situations plays a big part.

I love Rocco but he was really bad for most the game Saturday. He got us buried in bad field position on the first drive trying to change the call. It looked like a young qb on college football 25, he just wasn't in the game mentally. I don't blame them for shortening up the playbook, you really couldn't trust him in the first half. Made sense to dink and dunk to get his confidence back. From the results, whatever they did worked perfect, he came around when it mattered.

Speaking of dumb takes.

He had a tough first half that was aided by bad field position. I have no idea if the penalties were his fault or not. But he was excellent in the 2nd half. Your take that he was really bad for most of the game is bad.

He was partially to blame for the bad field position, he changed the play at the LOS and we never stopped moving backwards. He hit the big play and was amazing on the last drive, he was ok on a couple of others, so for 9/13 drives he was not very good. The delay of game got him rattled, it took him a while to get his head back.

Thankfully, the coaching staff recognized this and nursed him back into the game exactly how I described.

He didn't down the ball at the 1.

No he didn't but we were at the nine on 3rd down and only needed a couple of yards for the first at the beginning of the game. Tried to change the play is when we got 2 penalties for movement. That was why were ended up punting from the 1 yard line again. Would have been nice to have spread them out and run some type of RPO at the corner trying to pick up the first down. Once it became 3rd and nine we were in trouble. Thought the announcer made a good observation there, in that end zone, you get the play called and go on first cadence.
