The Big 12 will never ever ever ever get 3 teams in the playoff under its current structure. Ever.
Except every bit of TV ratings data disagrees with that. People tune in for name brands. That's why those two leagues are going to consolidate themI think the ACC, Big 12 and everyone not in the SEC/B1G could really put a choke hold on them just saying, do what you want. Create a 30 team conference. In a few years. It’s going to fail. People love college football not because of who’s most powerful but because of where they went to school. It’s time to tell them to take a hike. If they want to make their own division, then fine
The 4 is for in 2026 when they expand to 14 teams. The idea was also pitched that the Big12 and ACC would get two autos in that situation as well with 1 G5, and I guess an extra pick.Oh I agree we’ve been relegated to second-tier status. But think we can still get 2 in most years. That’s a far cry from the 4 the B10 and SEC will get each year though
Also if teams are ranked, I think the Big12 and ACC still have a ton of value but the G5 has absolutely zero.Except every bit of TV ratings data disagrees with that. People tune in for name brands. That's why those two leagues are going to consolidate them
It's the same thing I tried to convince myself for years being a mid-major college basketball fan. The tournament would get higher ratings without the mids and football isn't any different.
I don't know if I buy the 'neuters the regular season' argument. Did the fact that both teams are locks to get into the playoff make the Georgia/Bama game any less awesome or compelling Saturday night? The 4 is for in 2026 when they expand to 14 teams. I don’t like the idea of that many auto bids for the big ten and sec as it really neuters the regular season. But I also wanted playoffs to stop at 8 teams.
1. Too much parity with no elite teamsI mean. … why couldn’t the Big 12 get 3

The scheduling agreement could be more damaging than any auto bid talk, imo.
Say goodbye to CyHawk. Say goodbye to really any out of conference rivalry that hasn’t already been ruined.
But, it is true. College football revolves around “this is my team and I love them no matter what”. If you went to a 2 conference system, you’re losing 90% of the audience.Except every bit of TV ratings data disagrees with that. People tune in for name brands. Well technically they aren’t locked but yeah by any metric they kinda are. If you’re looking at 4 autos then yeah they obv are in.I don't know if I buy the 'neuters the regular season' argument. Not even close. So you’re assuming that everyone that watches Michigan/OSU is a fan? Or what about the Georgia/Bama game? Moving to n actual super league will hurt the audience for sure but not 90%But, it is true. College football revolves around “this is my team and I love them no matter what”. If you went to a 2 conference system, you’re losing 90% of the audience.
You think the cy-hawk game would go? It could still be in a non con. Yeah if their was some partnership like in basketball where every team plays another one form another conference then sure but I could see that game staying. Especially if the auto bids increasedThe scheduling agreement could be more damaging than any auto bid talk, imo.

This could not be more incorrect. But, it is true. College football revolves around “this is my team and I love them no matter what”. If you went to a 2 conference system, you’re losing 90% of the audience.
The Big 12 can get 2 teams in and (maybe 3) if all the stars align. It would have to be a year where it's very top heavy (like the SEC and B1G) and the media would then have to concede to have them in... at least 2.

Let em go. Screw the Big Ten and screw its douchey fans. **** the SEC and **** its douchey fans. Just a bunch of greedy ************* anyway. But, it is true. College football revolves around “this is my team and I love them no matter what”. If you went to a 2 conference system, you’re losing 90% of the audience.
Nobody except conference champs deserve auto bids. You give the big and sec 4 and most years its likely earned bu what about when the big sucks and the sec has 6 in the top 12?I think if it gets to that point, then the playoffs need to expand so the B12 gets 2 auto-bids or the B12 needs to seriously consider just doing their own playoff with the ACC and other G5s
Wait, how does the big ten and SEC playing against each other in the non con “hurt” their SOS? That’s the exact opposite that will happen…The problem is that the B1G and SEC are basically going to align and not play OOC games against the ACC or Big 12 which strips down their non con strength of schedule. The only way the Big 12 is ever going to get multiple bids is if they haver some strong non con wins. The B1G and SEC are going to make sure that doesn't happen. CyHawk is all but done in a couple years.
