Absolutely CyHawk will be done.

1.) See post 96.
2.) Iowa has been wanting to get out of this game for a few years now.
Does “Iowa” want to get out or do their fans after losing a game? Have to imagine that’s one of the more looked forward to games on either teams schedule being an instate rivalry and all

That rivalry is so odd.

Both fan bases 'want out of it' but it's still the biggest deal in the state and we have to fight about whose 'Super Bowl' it is on an annual basis.

I love it. The games are always tremendously ugly but drama filled. Game gets more and more attention every year. It's truly a great test for both early and I think it helps both down the line. Especially the way they're similar in many ways. I agree most hate it though. The loser always claims it as the others superbowl and that they would win a rematch at the end of the season. I hope it never goes away but could see it happening

Ever since Danny Mac snapped the streak all of the Iowa fans I know hate the game. They cry about it when we are bad and they cry about it when we are good. The only reason Iowa has continued with the series is pressure from within the state. A B1G/SEC alliance would be the perfect scape goat for Iowa to walk away from the game.

Nobody except conference champs deserve auto bids. You give the big and sec 4 and most years its likely earned bu what about when the big sucks and the sec has 6 in the top 12?
It’s not about deserve. It’s about survival at this point. Say you’ll go along if B12 gets 2 auto-bids or threaten to walk and see what happens (if ACC plays ball)

For what it's worth, any year the CyHawk is in Ames it's the nearly always the least fun game on the schedule. Tensions are too high (and not in a fun/exciting/hyped way) and too many of their fans invade the tailgate lots looking to start **** just to start ****. And, of course, the presence of so many hawk fans leads to some of the more "triggerable" ISU fans trying to start **** of their own. Pair that with typically high temps and a typically gross game (even when we win) and it rarely makes for a fun day.

This is probably the 10th time I have posted this and you aren’t the only one so don’t take offense, it’s not my intention but:

The Big 12 will never ever ever ever get 3 teams in the playoff under its current structure. Ever.
You may be right and I take no offense. All I am saying is that IF... and it's a big IF... the other conferences stumble a bit AND the Big 12 has a top heavy year... it COULD get 3 in. I'm not counting on it.

I think it's fantasy at this point that the Big 12 will get more than the one automatic qualifier. You can see it playing out in the rankings already (AP Poll isn't the CFP Rankings but it's all we have for now), Notre Dame lost at home to Northern Illinois and "Ole Miss" lost at home to unranked Kentucky, both are still ranked ahead of every Big 12 team. Teams like that will probably have to lose two more times before even an 11-1 or certainly a 10-2 Big 12 runner-up is in.

Nah 2 is very much possible, remember you’re only 5 weeks into the season and conference play has just begun, most of this is going off preseason. Ole miss should be farther back though for sure. ND and BYU should be flipped.

If the Big12 wins some playoff games semi regularly then I can see this. But a lot of dominos would have to fall right.
Bingo. Our conference's playoff representative(s) will have to prove the belong more often than not.

And, even in that, the deck is stacked against us. The 4 seed will almost always get the 2nd best SEC team, who is coming directly off a home tune-up game against the G5 team that made it in. It's gonna be tough sledding to win a playoff game any given year as it stands. That's (part of) why I'm in favor of removing the auto-bye rule.

The Big 12 Champ is going to have to consistently win the 4/5 or 3/6 game for it to be a realistic possibility.

Would you take any of the Big 12 contenders this year over Texas, Tennessee, Georgia or Oregon on a neutral field? I know I wouldn't.
Add in Ohio State and Penn State and any Big 12 team would be double digit underdogs to all 6 of them on a neutral field.

Big12 needs to show up outside the conference. Perception is bad. We're just a fun league within ourselves is what I hear.
Colorado needed to beat Nebraska. WV needed to beat Penn State, UCF needs to beat Florida, ISU did its job by beating Iowa. Kansas lost to ILL. Houston should have beaten OU. etc.

You're only pointing out what could be considered "good" losses. The conference getting swept by UNLV and Pitt is an awful look. Thank goodness BYU beat SMU, because them boat racing the Horny Toads didn't help at all.

Yeah that’s a brutal draw. The need for a second team to get in is important to get an easier first round matchup. It’s very possible this year though, just have to see how the rest of the season shakes out
