Hicks looks like another of the typical CMC recruit, comes in with a mediocre "rating" per the experts, and then we develop him into a starter and very good player. Plus Hicks gets the benefit of a great culture and learning responsibility, maturity, honesty. All the things that Campbell emphasizes. Win - win!

His dad if i'm not mistaken had the pick 6 on Drew Tate maybe when we crushed Iowa about 18 years ago. He was great. Yes I also feel old.
iirc, I thought Steve "Greedy" Paris had the pick of Drew Tate and then Tate knocked himself out trying to tackle Paris near sideline. Then later, Hicks sealed the game by picking off the backup QB (Manson, maybe?)

Our defense was so lights out that game and in general that year. Berryman had the most dominant game I’ve seen a defender play without actually recording a tackle (if I remember right his only stat was a fumble recovery), but he was in the backfield all game. Tim Dobbins also played an awesome game with a huge sack and then some monster QB hits.

Lamarcus’ pick 6 against Iowa in 05 is still the loudest I’ve ever heard the Jack. You would’ve thought there was a minor earthquake the way the stands were shaking.
Drew Tate loved it too. Knocked himself silly.

Paris intercepted Tate, who knocked himself out trying to make the tackle.
ISU scored a field goal off that turnover.

The next Iowa possession was Hicks' pick-6 of Manson.
I think a linebacker named Carper tipped that ball and Hicks got it. Ran it in, stadium went crazy. Iowa never even got into the red zone that day. That was the last time we blew them out.

I’ve not seen any interviewers who actually asked him what position he was recruited for.

Kinda doubt we’re taking four safeties this class.
Not sure on Hicks, but pretty sure Patterson and/or Ellens will be at corner.

He was a hell of a player. One of my favorite plays in cyclone history….any sport. I remember exactly where I was when he did that
