And now I’m going to old person complain….I am in the NW corner of the stadium and the speakers are really, really loud. I wish they could dial it back maybe 5%. Oh well!
Sec 5 checking in (also NW), also old... I've started plugging my left ear when it gets unbearably loud. It's like the volume varies and is, at times, just too much. At least the new system seems to have eliminated the echoes, with all the speakers being on the north end

As long as they bring Baby Metal with them too.....

Gimme Chocolate!

We used to host Japanese students traveling with the sister states program, I'd always ask the teenagers about Baby Metal. And typically got blank stares, with an "I don't know what you're talking about" vibe...

The music is loud. Sometimes it's too much but often given the context of the situation (team taking the field, when we're on D and trying to screw up the other teams offense, after a huge play/moment, etc.) it's justifiable. I don't mind it. They turn it down for Iowa Corn ads and stuff like that.

Eliminate it entirely. I know we have a good ag school. One of the best, probably. But that doesn't mean we are all hillbillies.
I couldn’t disagree more. The hip-hop drives me to the point that I’m considering giving up my season tickets. It’s not enjoyable. I’d prefer classic rock and good country.

Definitely a personal preference. I feel the same about the country music.

I'm trying to find Mr. Brightside, but I can't quite remember when that played. :(
2 minute warning of second half. You can hear it on the replay after the commercial break during the first play.

I think they could utilize Jakie better if we actually had some games for her to host and not only do ad reads. Like have a fan kick a field goal or some Jr cyclone kids put on costumes and do a little race.

They did this in Houston. Their hype guy was clearly more polished and had a better personality. But they did field goal kicking, ball throwing, etc.

Better than just staring at that damn digital clock midfield.

We've all got our own musical preferences. I tend to lean toward weighting the selections toward what gets the students and team energized. Some of us old folks won't get energized no matter WHAT gets played.

It used to crack me up when they would try to play Journey between the 3rd & 4th quarters. Nice idea given the lyrics of the chorus, but it takes so long to get to the "Don't stop believing" part that half the time they would end up cutting it off before the relevant lyrics played...so all you got was the first two verses and the guitar licks.

I remember when they did that and I've disliked the song since we blew a halftime lead against Kansas during one of the Chizik years. The lyric "ohhhhh we were half way there" has grated on me since.

It's easy to do fun crowd interaction stuff when the team is rolling and the game is in hand.

The question now will be how well they "read the room" if things aren't going that direction.

When they sent out the survey to season ticket holders in one of the comments sections I put in they should play this song. Had a good feeling it could get the energy up. The song cut out at a part of the song that most people would know the lyrics too which helped there.

I doubt that's the reason they played it and probably had more to do with the Ireland people being there. That song is crazy popular over there.

If the isu band and k state band both took the field at the end of halftime in Ireland and played it, I would not be disappointed.
Do you guys watch any other games? Michigan has been doing this for a few years now. At least Juicy Wiggle is only ours.

I know I’m in the vast minority and I’ll get ‘dumbed’ like crazy on this post, but I’m gonna say it.

I think the juicy wiggle is lame as hell and I kinda hate that it’s become our thing.

Had to get that off my chest, I know no one agrees but let me hear the hate

Edit: I love that it’s something that gets our crowd going and I don’t want them to stop but it’s just so cringey to me. During the okie st 2011 game they played “we ready” and got everyone so amped. Swag surfin is great too
I liked it when it felt more natural and they'd play it at key times or after a couple of specific big plays. Now that it has a dance and a tarp I can't say I'm as big a fan.

The crowd engagement is the best I've ever seen....my one gripe about the environment though is they still are pumping in music between each play....LET THE BAND PLAY.

The stuff they do during the media timeouts to keep fans engaged is awesome, but the blasting rap music in between each play is annoying to me.

Juicy Wiggle is objectively a dumbass song. But it’s OUR dumbass song and frankly it’s one of the best things we do. It’s not easy to find something the grandparents, middle age, students, and little kids like.

I can’t imagine an Iowa State fan not being happy when they hear it. It’s wrapped up so many great memories.

One of my favorite things, however is when Juicy Wiggle is played at a wedding and the non Iowa state people are like “what in the hell is this song?”. And you have to explain it is stupid but it’s OUR stupid. And we love it.

And now I’m going to old person complain….I am in the NW corner of the stadium and the speakers are really, really loud. I wish they could dial it back maybe 5%. Oh well!
section B here! Those speakers hurt your ears...damn do they blast the music
