We need to knock Greene out of the game early. He had about 100 yards on the ground last week. I thoroughly enjoyed Heacock dialing up the pressure on the Baylor QB Saturday night, hope to see Greene on his back or coughing up the ball. Let’s put their coach back on the hot seat.
Be careful what you wish for. The backup is 4-0 in starts when greene is hurt. @ oklahoma state 2022, Pitt 2023, @ TCU. texas tech. He was a 4 star kid. he's big. 6-2 220. he's tough. was a 4 time state champion in arizona as a high school wrestler.

Against Oklahoma state on 1st play threw a 8 yard bullet for a td. He also trucked a cowboy lb--ran him over and kept going.

WVU has played 1 great team, and 1 good team. lost to them both, although they should've beat Pitt. NB sucks.
ISU isnt as good as PSU, but likely better than no. 22 Pitt. Pitt was on the road, but i think ISU wins by 7-10. Unless MC is stubborn and tries to establish the run. WVU can stop the run. If ISu passes early and often, it will be a long day for the wvu defense.

Kansas ran on WVU, but that stat is a lie. NB was so of their passing wvu only played 5 in the box the entire game and kept the safeties way back.

WVU's base d can stop the run. the lbs and dline are really good.

If WVU beats ISU you will be right in that we may not be as good as Penn State, otherwise would love to see an ISU vs Penn State match on the field this year to prove which team is better.

I say PSU is better bc they have NFL talent all over the place. That said, ISu has the better coaches. and vandy just proved stars dont always matter.

Thanks for saying that there is a chance. We don’t have to beat them the best out of 10 times. We only have to beat them the first time. WVU got their shot this year would love to get ours. History shows our fans that a MC coached ISU team tends to get better as the season progresses unless injuries cause a problem. Good luck to the Eers for an injury free contest this Saturday. Should be a lot of fun.

That is not a good sign. Hasn’t Campbell lost like 10-12 straight when the line is within 3.5 points either way?

Yeah, but, unless you're superstitious (let's leave the Middle Ages behind and get with the Enlightenment ;-) past teams with different players and situations do not determine this moment's outcome.

WVU has lost to the two best teams they played, but should have beat Pitt.

Iowa is really the only good team we played and we barely pulled that out. Sagarin has Iowa at 21 and WVU at 27. Our next best opponent was Baylor at 58. There is still a possibility we are a paper tiger. Given our injury situation and the tough road environment I think we lose this one and show that we may be a little overrated at 11th.

This is a total prove it game though. Win this and I would say we go no worse than 10-2.

The young LBs seem to do a pretty good job of being in position but struggle tackling (game still understandably fast for them). If they get asked to spy, or Malik/Freyler have to get pulled out of high safety coverage to do it, that's going to be trouble

Listening to Ben Bruns' podcast Sunday, he had good words for the youngsters playing linebacker. He did say, iirc, they had problems with the cutback runs. Ben thought they would work on that a lot this week, of course.

All we can do is trust our people and see what happens. I'm picking our guys, because of the tremendous grit and courage they've shown this season.

(But, cripes, can we start games without falling scarily behind? . . .)

Man people always see the worst. It's possible Brezina is back and all is well. Either way, ISU is the better team.
Agreed. I don’t care if they have to put Petie in on defense, ala Remember the Titans. Trust in Heacock.

Yeah, I am counting on Brezina being back. Would be nice to see Sadowsky back out there too.

I think this weekend will be the quintessential “bend but don’t break” defense. WVU will move the ball but we’ll put the clamps on in the red zone, especially in the 2nd half. Greene will get impatient and make mistakes. On the other side of the ball, WVU won’t be able to stop Noel and Higgins and that will open up the run game. Sama takes one to the house from 50+.

Cyclones pert near win a game tighter than a tick on a hog's tail. The Mountaineers cut a shine however and the Flatlanders fly away with loss #1.

Hope I'm wrong.

Tough game, WVU probably pretty hyped and our injuries are mounting rapidly. We’ve played bad in large stretches and won 3 times, I think that won’t fly Saturday.

Stupid to say, but win this game and I think 10-0 start becomes very very attainable, maybe even likely.

Still struggling to understand just how good we are or aren’t.

Huge huge game IMO.
