I think we will probably spy more than we will blitz.
Thinking about that, this is maybe a game where Lovett gets some more run. It's obvious they dont trust him as an every down backer to be able to read the game and make the right play, but in spots last year he was pretty effective as a QB spy. He's very athletic and can execute well when his only job is to spy. Bring our big safeties down to help on early downs and spy in those 3rd down or passing situations.

Yeah this just feels like one of those games where pressure isn't maybe always a great thing. Have the DL hold their ground and let the LB's make tackles in space when needed. All I know is Heacock will have a plan for it.

This.

ISU has been able to overcome it this season, so far, )or, in the cast of Houston, endure sluggish start and pull away eventually).

At some point, a 2-TD-type deficit will be too much. Depends on opponent.
Honestly, i do agree with this, however, i dont think they will have this type of opponent until they play in the playoffs. There has not been a B12 team yet this year that i think you can comfortably say once they are up by 14 the game is over

Yeah watching the condensed highlights of their games, sending pressure is not how you beat them. Pressure late, sure, but Greene does a great job of eluding it and taking off where there's no longer the defense. I think what we'll see is a typical Heacock-style game where we feel them out in the first half and make adjustments for the second. Our LBs and safeties are going to have to wrap up and make some tackles.

Our secondary is going to have a bunch of opportunities to make plays. Greene throws into A LOT of tight windows and is only completing 57% of his passes.

I mean technically our biggest deficit has been at Iowa down 13. Baylor was 11 but was anyone ever seriously nervous about that deficit?

Yes, we need to start better and quicker but it’s not like we have been trailing in all 5 games this year.

I'd say the only team so far where that would be the case would be Iowa State. Right now, I would be very confident if we were up 14 points. We play a style of play offensively and defensively that strangles you.

Some of that is Greene prefers to take off on passing plays. So while they might only throw it 19 times, they called 25-30 passing plays. Greene wants nothing more than to see an overcommitted pass rush and take off up the middle. Our LBs are going to have to play well because he will break the first tackle.
Looks like Green ran the ball 10 times, for 86 yards but one of those was for 39 yards. He did have one TD rushing the ball. I really wish ISU would have their QB's running the ball more, either on RPO's or just scrambling if the pass is not there. Becht has ran the ball 19 times in five games, so 4 times a game, would love to see double that number.

WVU is our biggest test yet, and I feel like if they get us down by 2 scores they're just going ground pound and keep our offense on the sidelines. That said, both of WVU's losses have come to ranked teams. PSU at home by a million, and Pitt on the road. We have more skill players on the offensive side of the ball, an elite secondary, a defensive line that has gotten better every week, and a helluva DC. I think it will be another slow start, but we win the 2nd half. Again.

I watched WVU's condensed games and WVU should've beaten Pitt, they absolutely choked. On the other hand, WVU should've lost vs. KU who choked. WVU's defense has given up a lot of big plays while their offense has produced a lot of them.
