Dear Cyclone Fans,

Thank you for making Jack Trice Stadium loud and energetic. We are grateful for everyone’s support in creating an electric home field advantage for our No. 10 Cyclones.

However, we need your help in making the environment in the stadium and parking lots even better. During the past several games, we have unfortunately experienced a significant increase in rude, arrogant, and belligerent behavior by some of our fans. This behavior is typically the result of individuals being intoxicated and has resulted in ugly confrontations between fellow fans leading to physical altercations in several situations, and very unpleasant fan experiences in almost all cases.

Although we plan to add additional security measures, we are also asking each of you to help better monitor the behavior of your fellow fans. Do not let a friend, guest, or a fellow fan ruin the game experience for everyone. If we all work together, we can eliminate this problem before it becomes a more serious issue.

In addition, we are also sharing a copy of a letter we sent our student ticket holders. If you have a child, grandchild or friend that attends the football games in the student section, please discuss the attached letter with them. We must address this important issue before someone is seriously injured.

Our football program is having a historic year. All eyes are on us nationally. It is a great opportunity to highlight our institution, fans, and football program. If we work together, we can best represent our institution in a manner that will make everyone proud.

Thank you for your understanding and assistance.

Does anyone have a copy of the letter sent to students?
Letter to Iowa State Students:
October 22, 2024

Dear Cyclone Football Student Ticket Holder,

Thank you for making our football student section loud and energetic. We so appreciate how you and your fellow students have led the way in creating an electric home field advantage for our No. 10 Cyclones at Jack Trice Stadium.

As someone who was standing on the field in the south end zone on Saturday night, I can honestly say that the student section played a significant role in our football team’s ability to score the game-winning touchdown. Your passion was tremendous!

We need your help making our student section even better, and it is very important. Recently, some students have thrown water bottles and other projectiles during the game, and several of our own fans, including children, have been hit. Although no one has been hurt, we must work together to immediately stop this before someone is seriously injured.

In addition to an increased security presence at our remaining home games, we also need each of you to help better monitor the student section. Do not let a friend, guest, or a fellow student ruin the game experience for everyone by throwing objects. If we all work together, we can eliminate this problem before it becomes an even more serious issue.

We need your presence, enthusiasm and assistance to stop this type of behavior from occurring again so that we do not need to implement more drastic measures. Please know that we are also addressing poor behavior by the general public. The bottom line is there is simply no place in our stadium for any fan who is reckless about another fan’s safety.

Our football program is enjoying a historic season. All eyes are on us nationally. It is a great opportunity to highlight our institution, fans, and football program. If we work together, we can best represent our institution in a manner that will make everyone proud.

Thank you for your understanding and assistance.

I think the nice warm weather = more alcohol consumed in the lots. I’ve noticed a few that sit in my section this year that needed a quick nap in their seats lol.
