LOL. What a trash team. Their fan base deserves this. No good team falls this far just because your QB is hurt.

I remember when Jacob Park went haywire then Kempt came in and kept it going.

I remember when Kempt got hurt and then eventually Purdy was the guy.

I agree this isn’t that big of an excuse.

So will we be double digit favorites when we go to Utah?

They could still do us a solid in the Holy War
Suppose they could. Can't root for Utah. I'm not sure I ever will.

It would be better if BYU is undefeated, ditto with ISU, Iowa State wins the CCG (or loses to BYU), both teams get a CFP invite.

I know we are hoping ISU gets to the CCG and gets an invite to the CFPs. That would be great. Thinking bigger picture, it's probably more important to get two schools into the CFPs.

This is the year we should do it, get two in, but we probably won't. That would be sad.

Honestly kinda sick of the narrative that we should root against BYU and K-State. As far as I'm concerned, we should root for multiple bids from the Big 12 if possible. The national narrative around this conference right now isn't great to begin with. We might as well try to maximize the bids while we can, regardless of what records look like.

You’re sick of people wanting ISU in the Big 12 Championship to give us a chance to win a conference title that we haven’t won in over 100 years? Or sick of people wanting a crack at the CFP? Weird.

Because as of right now this is shaping up to where we have to go 12-0 to get any of those things. Can we do it? Sure. But we all would be absolutely devastated to go 11-1 and NOT even play for the conference championship. Doesn’t diminish what the team will have done, but to lose on a fricking tiebreaker with the record where ANY other year it would get you a spot in Arlington would absolutely suck.

So yes, cheer against BYU, K State and Colorado.

I don't think anybody is wrong in what they want.

1. I get wanting other teams to lose to guarantee ISU a spot in the Big 12 CG. It guarantees us a spot there which then gives us our direct opportunity to get to the CFP.
2. I kind of want BYU to win out because IMO that's the only chance ISU has of losing that game and still making the CFP.
3. The national narrative around this conference will not change until we have teams win in the CFP and start winning noncon games. the non conference slate for the Big 12 was an absolute disaster, we can admit it.

I see your point, but hear me out here-only 2 teams can make the CCG, and right now, CU, BYU, KSU, and ISU are creating a whole cluster in the b12 standings so as an Iowa State fan, you absolutely root against all of them. The margin for error right now is razor thin, and all 3 teams have a cake schedule left, and out of those 3 teams, we only play KSU

Least scared to most scared for the five remaining games...

Tech (their LOL!!! loss in Fort Worth hopefully discourages them)
Kansas (KU has sucked this year/almost a de facto home game... but not quite)
@ Utah (still going to be a difficult road trip but the Utes are imploding)
Cincinnati (still very much in the hunt/might have much to play for)
K-State (might still be the best team in the conference and will have much to play for)
Tech, KU, and UU basically only one concern- if they do that "we've been sucking so lets have some pride and ball out and go for a big upset since our season is trash". Like UCF did.

UU has a better chance of having a UCF type game against BYU in the holy war than they do against us

True but I also get the not taking the loser mentality. The scenario in which BYU losing to Utah only helps if our loss is to Kstate AT HOME, then it would allow us to play them again for B12 CC on neutral field. And if we somehow loss 2 games of the last 5 we probably don't deserve it anyway. So he's not wrong that at this point the math of cheering against the other teams really isn't that important as ISU winning the games in front of them

I’m rooting for SMU to win the ACC championship and for ISU and BYU to meet in the CCG both 12-0. Can’t really make SMU 3rd seed when they lost to BYU and we beat BYU and are undefeated. Then the argument will be between SMU and Boise for 4th.

We all know the most ideal outcome is both us and BYU finishing 12-0. I am cheering for that, but I’m also being realistic and the chances of that based on odds and percentages says that almost certainly will not happen.

Doesn’t mean I don’t want it to happen because that would be awesome for the conference.

Eh, it's not the conference.

They're just not very good right now.
No it's the conference they are physically getting beat up.

Pac 12 for the most part was more finesse than physical. Had 1 good year but historically they are a soft league.

Teams that moved to Big 10 sans Ducks also struggling

Heck Deon literally re-tooled his entire team cuz he knew they need to get more physical.

Are you saying if Utah were in the Pac 12 they'd be doing well? They were 8-5 last season, as was USC and both teams are worse this year. Washington and AZ are quite literally different teams than last year.

This reminds me of the 'Nebraska got bad because they went to the Big Ten' narrative.

They're just not very good.

I'm having fun watching the Big 12 but it's not exactly a murderer's row.
