I get things weren’t pretty. We’re 7-1 with a 1 pt loss. Forgot how full of pessimists this fanbase is.

Take a deep breath y’all.

I agree with what you said above - if we had squeaked by I would've predicted a for sure L next week.

We'll find out how much this team hates losing next week. Certainly stuff to be fixed.

And yes, our online fanbase is pretty toxic. IRL, we'll have a group at Arrowhead and are planning on a fun time.

KU is aggressive on both sides of the ball and ISU will need to figure out a way to neutralize that.

Other than that, if it's 1st and goal at the 1, FFS just get up to the line and punch it in.
“Aggressive”?

They’re 14th in the league in total defense. They’re giving up even more rushing yards per game than we are. Their pass defense is 13th.

Apparently you mean…overly aggressive? Passive aggressive?

Those stats have nothing to do with what I'm talking about. Tech had a bad pass defense too but kept ISU uncomfortable.

KU will bring lots of guys and crowd the line on D. Both sides of the ball for them are fairly unpredictable.

They don't piss around on offense like ISU has done the past two games.

I feel better about this game after losing yesterday. Anyone else feel the same way?
Agree. We were the 2nd least penalized team before yesterday. It was a day where 3 penalties that we usually don’t committ had huge game breaking implications. Even with the other things that went wrong, that’s a double digit win without the back breaking penalties. We’ll get back to disciplined football starting this week. We can still beat anyone in the Big 12.

Not really. I get what you're saying about getting a loss out of their system and maybe taking some pressure off. I have also seen situations where a team loses after a solid early season win streak and the flood gates open for multiple losses.

The Cyclones are going to have to play their best game of the season. Don't feel we match up well against KU's offense with Daniels being mobile QB and a solid run game with Neal and Hishaw. KU went through a rough patch offensively early in the season, maybe because they lost their OC to Penn State.

Get the feeling the ISU game will make or break their season. Win and they have the confidence to finish strong against BYU, CU and BU. Lose and guys don't have much to play for at 2-7.

Of course they are. They’re next on the schedule, and some of you pump up every “next team on the schedule”.

They’re 2-6.
Or just maybe, the talent level between ISU and every single team on the schedule is incredibly similar. We saw it yesterday. Iowa State is not good enough to just show up and win a game. Its not pumping up every single opponent we play, its called being realistic.

Kansas is not a bad football team despite being 2-6. Really not that different from the 2022 Cyclones who blew every single late lead they had

I've probably watched about half of KU's games and I wouldn't discount them because of their record. All but TCU were by a TD or less. And every loss KU gave up a 4th Q lead. They've been outscored 68-27 in Q4 of their 6 losses.

It's going to be a tough game, but our guys seem to harden their mentalities on the road. Our defense is really, really good. The offense just needs to find a way.
The potential is there and has been all year for the offense. Eventually, potential only does so much. But there’s a lot of season still for it to click.

Going to be a great weekend to shut up all the loser fans on here who were more excited to jump down the coaching staff's throat after a loss than about a 7-0 start.

Sometimes things that have worked despite maybe not being a great idea fall into trends that prove to not work out later.

I'd like to see a chart on what levels a lot of passes were completed in some wins vs. going for the long ball and relying on that vs. making the basic play that just moves the chains.

Yep. 1 pt and 1 min away from being 8-0. Their is a lot left to play for.
Heck one pass! If they don't convert the sliding catch on 4th and 7, we're 8-0 and singing different tunes. Game of inches. Let's take it out on the squaks this week

Going to make this prediction:
ISU wins 24-21

that being said, if we lose and I think this game is a toss up since KU is a much better team than their record and their season is on the line, its going to be a long, long week and I think 9-3 is a real possibility.
I think we struggle with teams that can get a QB out of pocket and buy time to find open receivers.
