Not sure what to think of this. Was at gym and this old guy (older than me) and an exercise instructor gal were headed for the same machine I was. They opted for the one next to me instead after a short "Oh, no, after you!" I had seen them before, same thing in going for a machine at the same time a couple of weeks ago. So, later I am in free weights doing curls and the old dude is standing right next to me, watching me with his instructor. After I finish he asks me what I do for a living. Me "Retired". He says they had a bet, he said I looked like a lawyer and she was guessing I was in real estate. Told them project manager in a previous life so they they were both wrong. Jeez, I guess them saying car salesman would have been bad to.
You should have told them you were a retired double naught spy

Went to the polls when Mrs. Velo got off work. I fully expected to have to wait in line in the rain so had rain coat and umbrella. We literally didn't have to wait at all and went right in. That was about 3:45. I wonder if we just managed to get there before the evening crush arrived.

Went there tonight to eat. She said hi to me first. We talked a good amount, wasn't awkward or anything.
To add, she seemed really interested in what I was up to and stuff, kept coming over every 5-10 minutes to see if I need anything or to talk. She probably was just being friendly but it's not like I was the only one there. She could've just said hi and ignored me the rest of the night, there were like 4 other bartenders working, but she didn't. Told me to have a good night when she left.

Went to dinner at my wife's grandmothers last night. She had a new book that was focused on the history of the Amana Colonies and specifically the Ox Yoke Inn. I had never given thought to it much more than being a German settlement so the communal and what I would call almost Amish like lifestyle was interesting.

I've never been there. With both grandmas being German (I know one spoke German) I felt I had a good feel of the culture. And never wanted to eat anything with cooked cabbage in it ever again.

I honestly have only eaten there a few times and I don't think have ever gone to any of the festivals. Nice history of the area though. Oh and a good little grass strip airport.

Forgot this is the first Wed. of the month, so the sirens are going off in Ames. Kinda scared me for a few sec until I remembered.

Last night's supper was above par I put a rack of ribs in the oven tented in tinfoil and set it at 225 and left for work, came back opened them up gave them a quick brush of BBQ sauce and another 20 minutes at 250 to set the sauce pulled waited 5 for the juices to settle and served. May have been a touch overdone because it was darn near fall off the bone. Really good though.

Dang it was really foggy this morning burned off and is a nice day now.

Not exactly sure.
Anyone hear of a job opening in the supply chain in Iowa or the area around it, please pass it along. The daughter is finding out there are a lot of ghost postings out there. Not a great time to be graduating it appears.

Everytime I put a screen protector on my phone, just upgraded from the 13 Pro to 16 Pro, there is always one or two spots that has very small air bubble or piece of debris between the phone and screen. I use the wet and dry wipes along with the dust absorber. At least they included a guide frame when putting it on. Thumb hurts from trying sliding it across the screen to try and get them out. I think I may have succeeded!!

Screen protector you say? My screen looks like someone took sandpaper to it.

Try using a credit card/ similar soft, flexible plastic next time. The card edge creates better leverage than your thumb does to push out bubbles as well.

I know of a job opening. Can she read a tape measure and swing a hammer?

I’ve taught her that but you don’t want her swinging that hammer, at least not on finish work. She a had a couple leads through my families’ connections (nice part of having a larger set of cousins and many being self employed with connections) but many would require her to leave Iowa or the surrounding area.

If it's the PNW for the right money, tell her to leave and never look back. It is gorgeous out there.
