Not exactly sure.
If it's the PNW for the right money, tell her to leave and never look back. It is gorgeous out there.
She and her BF both want to be around family. So that is why she wants to be in the general area. I have cousins in Sacramento and Carson city but that’s as close as any family is.

My coworker is indeed leaving. Hate to see him go, learned a lot from him and we had some good times going out to the bars after work. Now it will just be my foreman and I being the only ones over 21. It'll probably mean a bigger raise for me though, maybe even a truck out of it. I just hope we don't split up into 2 crews, my foreman doesn't want to teach any more kids. I still only have a year on the job, I know a lot of stuff, but I don't think I'm ready to be a lead.

We all learned something new today. This is a 2 story house so there's engineered floor trusses that go on over the first floor, and the plan says they're supposed to be 19.2" on center. We thought that meant 19 and 2/16, but then my coworker pointed out that the little black marks on tape measures every 19 inches indicate 19.2, which is 96 (8 feet) divided by 5.

Yea, they would have said 19 1/8 if that is what they wanted. I never knew about that 19.2 but I never worked home construction. I did labor on office buildings mainly footings and masonry work.
It's pretty cool how they make tools like tape measures with the helpful marks on them. I never noticed the 19.2 marks until I just checked

I checked my 15’ tape measure. There is no 19.2 mark on it.

And some designer probably just used the span chart for that. My floor joists (wood I-joists) are spaced much closer than the allowable O.C. for the distance spanned. Wanted it stiffer than the minimum. I used to do the same for building decks since I didn't like the possible "spongy" feel of the minimum structure. Maybe didn't matter for my living room because it's not like I have kids jumping up and down here but it is stout with close spacing, 3/4" ply and 3/4" oak....pretty solid diaphragm!

To say my job is a Hot Mess Express since May would be an understatement. My favorite team member left mid-September for his own mental health. Now, my team lead, whom I very much like, is leaving...last day November 22nd. So now there's only three of us "peons" that know mostly and care how to do our job. Anything said to management will fall on deaf ears.

So, all this happening right before the holidays/end of the calendar year is fine. Just fine! Really really really fine. My team lead said something sarcastic about passing the torch, and I quipped back "Oh no. That torch is going to be dropped on the floor and this whole place is going up in flames." (Said as if my team lead will be holding out said "torch", but no one will be there to grab it when she leaves)

Can't find the one all metal one I found in the road that had been run over a number of times but was still working. And the old cloth one with the burgundy color was my grandfather's. Still has his name scratched into the case. Likely from his railroad depot agent working days (packages and all for shipping).

How many tape measures do you guys have? I am going to go count them now!
I just counted 5 in our junk drawer, surprisingly those haven't wondered off, I keep 2 in my truck and 2 in my regular toolbox. Probably have at least 6 more in various places.
