Why can't I see the ticket exchange for and some others topics from drop down after I select forums?
It's under the General - Non ISU category heading. Are you looking there?

The requirements have been tightened a bit as promised. The rules are;
  • Registered for at least 30 days (was 10 days)
  • At least 1 post
In theory, the 30 day rule is going to prevent the vast majority of scenarios of fraud where the user or bot registers and immediately posts spam. Next most likely would be somebody that registered and waited to post a fraudulent For Sale - which leads to the next sentence.

There are a lot of lurkers that don't post but actively use the Ticket Exchange forum to buy or sell so don't want to increase the post requirement, at least until we determine it's necessary.

We will continue to monitor and can adjust as warranted.

Ticket Exchange Forum - Some Safeguard Changes...

In order to better reduce the potential for scammers or spammers, the below changes are being implemented to who will have access to view or post in the Ticket Exchange Forum going forward.
  1. Added a new secondary user group of "Ticket Exchange Access"
  2. Added a user promotion process/cron job
    1. Runs every 2 hours to evaluate criteria
    2. User gets promoted to the new secondary user group after they have been a member for;
      1. At least 10 30 days
      2. AND have at least 1 or more posts
  3. Changed Ticket Exchange Forum viewing/posting requirement to;
    1. Logged In User
    2. Valid Status (i.e. not banned user)
    3. Secondary usergroup includes "Ticket Exchange Access"
For now, viewing is still allowed, but posting new threads or replies is not allowed until the above is met.

9/29/24 Update:
I edited the above after doing some thinking. I'm not even going to show the Ticket Exchange Thread unless you meet the requirements. Better to be safe with scam buyers as well.

These changes are a first attempt. If we find we need to further restrict to those either longer term or more required post counts, we can adjust.

11/10/24 Update:
Requirement for number of days registered has been increased from 10 days to 30 days. Further changes will be made if/when deemed necessary.
posting here to meet requirement (i’m only a buyer who has bought successfully on here before.

This idea may have come up previously but as a forum we could probably do a better job of commenting something like, "Successful ticket sale" to someone's profile page for others to see they are a trusted source.

Interesting thought. Maybe we should start a thread in the Ticket Exchange forum where people can independently affirm the legitimacy of the people from whom they bought tickets.

Frankly, though, a little common sense is really all you need to stay safe in purchasing tickets on CF. Don't buy tickets from a "New Member" who has only been recently approved. Do a search and see whether they have successfully sold ticket previously.
