There isn't many teams out there that are the only Power 4 school in a decent size state, that is located in a large city, in the most lucrative league in college athletics and continue to just underachieve at football and basketball.
Minnesota is definitely on the list if there was one and looks like they continue that tradition this year again.
The Minneapolis area churns out basketball talent too. Almost none of them go to Minnesota, and, when they do, they usually suck.

State of Minnesota basketball commits that went to P6 schools (Big Ten, SEC, ACC, Big 12, Pac12 or Big East).

2018: 6. 3 went to Minnesota.
2019: 4. None went to Minnesota
2020: 8. None went to Minnesota
2021: 2. None went to Minnesota
2022: 9. 2 went to Minnesota
2023: 3. None went to Minnesota
2024: 8. 2 Are committed to Minnesota.

I understand that but I’m his two years they have gone 27-9 each year and made the elite 8 last year. I understand what their expectations are as a program, but taking over for a legend and getting your feet set as a head coach takes a little time.
Scheyer definitely has a long leash but, other than being hand picked by Coach K, he still has a everything to prove in regards to his actual coaching ability. Duke is always going to recruit at an elite level, no matter the coach, so a stacked roster is implied.

Second round exit in the tourney his first year. Last year lost at home to UNC in the regular season finale to blow a share of the ACC title. Also that Elite 8 run was weak as hell. Beat Vermont and James Madison, then BARELY got past Houston in a game where Shead was out with injury in the first half, Roberts was playing on one leg at point in the year and Tugler was already done for the year.

So he may end up being great, but he's still got to prove a lot.

It is truly fascinating.... they are in an interesting spot NIL-wise definitely being in a pro-dominant sports city. I imagine it has to be harder to funnel money to both programs in a city like that. Especially both programs that have been as average as they are. But still mind-boggling. Maybe they should've kept young Pitino around to usher them into the new era

we could use a K-state win against LSU tonight to keep the SEC punks from peacocking too much.

anyway.....Is there a reason K-state for again another year puts a static white advertising sign directly inline of the hoop of the camera angle? Maybe its just me, but its annoying AF to watch.

ASU played Gonzaga pretty tough and leading Grand Canyon currently. They may be pesky this year. They have some talented freshman so will be interested to see if they can maintain through the Big12 grind.

High scoring game. Knew it would be close. GC is investing.

Dirty play by KSU at the end. And yet Tang was calling for a moving screen on LSU instead of benching his player. Well, Tang probably told his player to charge at a LSU player anyway

Just another reason to loathe Tang
