Has the rot started to creep in?

I don't really feel any different about this team. The offense still sucks. The play calling is still mind boggling. The defense is decent when healthy... but rushing only 3 is still dumb.

We beat a VERY average team last night on our home field... congrats? Yeah, sure.. a win is a win.

Even if we win out... we likely will not have beaten a ranked team this year... but that's probably going to be the case a lot of years now in this new Big 12. Mediocrity. Will Iowa be our best win? Yikes.

You miss the good old days of being blown out by very average teams? Those days where we won 2 or 3 games all season were awesome. Good times. Fire Campbell.

I absolutely loved the fake punt.

That's the coaching and calls I want to see.

Early gambler CMC where you play to win.

ISU fans will never get upset with a coach playing for the win.

DMac got fired because he wouldn't. He was the king of the 2nd quarter kneel down.

Ranked wins count against teams that are ranked when we play them. It doesn't matter where they finish. So, yes, we will have beaten one ranked team. Which is similar to most Big 10 West records in prior seasons, so no need to ***** about it.

Also, if you are going to move the goal posts and only count ranked wins if the team finishes ranked, you need to re-count for every team, because that changes things quite a bit for all.

The offensive play calling is still atrocious and needs to be tuned up. When we sling it to Higgins and Noel we usually score quickly. When it works, we abandon it the next drive for a vanilla mix of running up the middle and 3-4 yard passes. This is what doesn’t make sense to me. Offense is capable of scoring 40 most games but the staff holds everything back with their decision making.

The secondary was amazing last night, but our defense has too many problems whenever a quarterback can run the ball. Hopefully Heacock can make some changes to combat that better.

Rot might not be the right term, but the coaching staff needs to grow a pair and be more aggressive offensively and adjust things defensively. The next two are certainly winnable, but it depends on what the staff decides to do in game.

I remember being at Kinnick Stadium in 2006 and watching Coach Mac settle for a knee before the half when we were up versus #16 Iowa. Killed all our spirit and momentum.

Playing not to life has needlessly doomed this program so many times over the years.

The offense could probably be more open/efficient by leaning on the strengths more to help but them scoring 40 points a game is a wild thought.

After a good scoring drive I'd guess there's a lot of anticipatory work in what the opponent is going to do to counter what was successful.

Show me where I said we should fire Campbell? Don't put words in my mouth.

But he needs to be better... a lot better. Unless we're all thrilled with mediocrity? If so, then everything is peachy!

Me when I let out a real stinker and that one girl knows it was me and IDGAF.

This was after the fake punt play.... and CMC tried to act like Mr. Tough Guy and not smile... but he couldn't hold it back.... and then we got a delay of game penalty because we got so excited that we finally were aggressive for once and we didn't get our next play off in time. So started that series of downs at 1st and 15, and could never recover.. and had to depend on making a 52 yd FG instead.

Followed up a great fake punt call with the ineptness of not getting the next play in.. and that cost us that drive.

I'm sorry that ISU won last night.
