I think it’s fair to say most salary positions expect 45 hours minimum. I wouldn’t worry too much about that. Especially if it is in fact hourly and you get overtime.
more $ than the last job?
I am retiring at the end of the year and cope with this also. Between carreer adjustments I was a janitor/building superintendent for 9 months and loved it. You are exactly correct. I believe I have secured a PT retirement job as 3 days a week 4 hours each day as a janitor. No more thinking and I will know the job is completed, dont have to worry about my employees family issues keeping them from completing tasks, waiting for email responses, board decisions and meetings. My wife says I am better already, and she is very observant/intuitive about this. Or I where my attitude on my sleeve.I have anxiety disorder as well and cleaning schools was the best job I ever had. Objectively you could check off things as they got done and you knew what the plan for the day was as it started.
Is it okay to ask what type of work? Don’t have to say if you don’t want. I used to be in jobs that would have 70-100 hours during spring and fall. Those really sucked. You do eventually come to the point where you feel like it’s not worth working your life away. 45 doesn’t sound bad. I could see 53 feeling long on those 3rd weeks.Yeah but alot more hours too and my mobility isn't the greatest anymore.

That seems like a job where the days go by fast at least. It's an auto supply store. I would primarily be a delivery driver but everyone does a little of everything besides their main job.
You ever look into school food service? Good benefits. Pretty good pay. School hours and summer off. It's an auto supply store. I would primarily be a delivery driver but everyone does a little of everything besides their main job.
I wouldn’t do it if you’re not excited about it and you can get by without a job for a little longer. In my mind, this is an opportunity for you to pivot to something you’re excited about. Talk to people close to you to see if they agree, and obviously again consider your finances…but that sounds like a grind you’re not interested in.Having an internal crisis right now. I got a call today about a second interview. In time since the first interview I've had time to think which is a bad thing. This job would be 45 hours every week and every third week being 53 hours.
At OC I was more 30-35 with occasional 36-40 hours weeks. I'm having fears I wouldn't hold up to the hours of this new job.
I think you would have enough gaps while you’re driving to catch a break. I’ve seen several elderly people do that job in my area. It's an auto supply store. I would primarily be a delivery driver but everyone does a little of everything besides their main job.
