I just hate holding the ball out of the timeout. It puts you at such a disadvantage to not start your set until there is 6 seconds left. No opportunity for secondary looks and ball movement. Just run offense and if you have a shot take it. Either way they were going to have plenty of time to get a shot off.

I just can’t understand the logic behind making them guard for 20 seconds instead of 6 seconds

Yeah, they were getting a shot either way and with 10-11 seconds differential they its not like we were leaving them with only a crazy rushed shot or anything. Better to have a good possession.

Trying to find silver lining here. I’m just glad to not have to have the 10 PM CT tip-off tomorrow night

I think that’s the problem I have with the timeout. I think TJ is a great coach, but if you’re going to try to waste some clock, why not move the ball around until there are about 10 seconds left, see if you can get an easy layup in that time…and then call your timeout. Then you call a play that hopefully takes 3-5 seconds to develop…and actually get a good shot off.

I’m guessing they play terrible tomorrow against NC
I take it you're talking about Auburn. Unless you think Dayton beats UNC. Auburn had to make a lot of 3 pt shots tonight to get back into the game. It was a very physical game.
As for Jefferson...having the leg injury like he did...he's still trying to get in basketball shape. He's in shape at this point. But maybe not quite basketball shape for a game like this. He'll definitely have better games as the season wears on.

I think we will be really good, prob won't lose at home either.

But there are a couple red flags that are very similar to last year. Half court detail and disclipline offensively and the stretch 4 issue. It's really early though, hard to read much into these games this early.

I wouldn't be concerned about the half court issues if it wasn't a problem tj has always had.

Still early, these games mean almost nothing really.
I don’t think we will have the half court issues that we saw the last two years though. We showed that in the first half. To start the second we quit sharing the ball and really forced things. The in order for this team to max out we have to move the ball. When it clicks this team is gonna be scary.

He wasn't. He wasn't on the floor during their 16-2 run or whatever either. We have been told all offseason that Milan stepped up his defensive game. Why is he not on the floor? I guess that's for the coaches to defend.
I think he just had nobody he could handle defensively. He came out after a baker three where he was just flat footed. He's never going to be able to match up with a team like auburn. It's not a slight it's just reality. Auburn had two pros out there tonight at his spot. Now why he wasn't in in the last play I have no idea. Never seems like we have a great plan out of timeouts.

He will have his nights, but it's just a brutal matchup for him tonight.

Especially in the bonus. Attack and there’s a good chance you shoot two

It was big for Auburn to have already played Houston. This was our first big game and we didn't play great. But we'll be fine.

I think it was said Jefferson's conditioning might be a little behind because of I think a knee issue over the Summer? He looked really gassed towards the half and in the 2nd. That'll get better, so.
Auburn is now 2-0 in the Big XII against the two best teams from last year. Perhaps, they are actually a really GOOD team! I hate Auburn, but I am not tripping about ISU losing tonight. National Championships are NOT won in Maui in November!

We lost by two to a top five team in our fourth game. That is not an eight seed effort. What the hell is your problem?
Cut him some slack. His Iowa football team is only going to win 7 games this year and their men’s basketball team has started hosting bridge tournaments at halftime, just so they can fill seats
