We have reached the worst post of the season on only our fourth game. Very impressive. Until someone says fire TJ this season (nobody will say that) I don’t think anyone will top how dumb of a post this actually is

They may say it, would that surprise you

I agree with you unfortunately games like this can be huge for seeding down the road in March. A win vs a loss tonight might end up being the difference between a 1/2 seed vs a 3/4 seed

We should have our chances. It would have been nice to get the win but not the end of the world. TJ has the new guys attention

Wish Watson was in rotation with his size last night. I was hoping that he would make a sizable jump from soph to jr year

A few thoughts after having a full night to digest to digest the game:

1) When ISU is 100%, they are nearly unstoppable. I was really impressed by their energy, activity, ball movement, intensity, and quickness in the first half.
2) That said, the 2nd half showed they don't have the depth or conditioning to keep that level of energy up for a full 40 minutes. ISU was a clear step slower, they couldnt force turnovers, they got sloppy on offense, the ball stuck, and they got out-rebounded.
3) I was really encouraged by the post play. Broome is the best post player in America, both offensively and defensively. Dishon and Joshua are obviously not that, but they proved they belong at this level.
4) What is going on with Tamin? CW says he is not hurt, was he hurt in the summer or early fall? His conditioning is awful. The last 10 min of the game he could hardly get up and down the court. Had no legs in his shots. Tamin really hurt us down the stretch.

Agree to some degree but a 2 point loss on a neutral to the best team in the country (and make no mistake Auburn is the best team in the country) isn’t going to hurt in seeding. Our strength of schedule after Auburn, Dayton, Uconn and Marquette should be the best in the country.

That was a hell of a game. Too bad that they blew such a big lead but Auburn is going to be a major handful for everybody. They need somebody other than Gilbert to make plays down the stretch, Lipsey needs to be a lot more assertive and Jones sort of went away in the second half.

My first look at Dishon and he did a pretty good job, he was sort of on his own defending Broome which is a tough matchup for anybody but he held up pretty well and was big at the free throw line. My biggest concern with the Cyclones was the new frontcourt and how they'd fit in and Dishon at first look was pretty decent.

Yeah. Like how they did in the b12 championship, or how they did in the 2nd round of the trny last year. Or against lu at home last year.

Oh wait.

Stupid fans gonna say stupid things.
You don’t have to admit you’re stupid…give your self some credit. How about the times they did fade? Like Baylor on the road last year? Texas A&M? OSU? TTech? Numerous examples of this very thing over the past couple of years.…if you actually watch the games.

The takeaway for the team is the amount of consistent focus it takes to play 40 minutes at the kind of level required to be a national contender. This loss will be a factor in some big wins this year.

ISU played at a much higher level than I hoped for in this game. Result sucked and if some plays had been made in last 2 minutes we win. Get used to it, we'll probably have 10+ games like this year with our schedule and we won't make all the necessary plays.

This team is experienced on paper but just their 4th game together and first game against real competition. I did not expect them to gel so well at this point.

It is early but they appear to be on schedule compared to prior couple of years with a lot more upside potential due to improved post talent.

Interesting nugget - we shot 29 FTs. When was the last time we shot 29 FTs. More importantly, when was the last time we shot 80% at FT line? If that holds up it is good for 2-3 more wins than we usually get.

Biggest frustration is not understanding how ISU keeps finding ways to fade in big games…
i get the frustration here.. but this was Auburn. They weren't just going to lay down. they could easily win a national title this year.

the over reaction to this game is MIND-BOGGLING.

I will say, they adjusted better than we did in the 2nd half.
