9/10. The Auburn game came down to a single play. The Dayton game was in an extremely tough spot for a team that went there to win it all, and the guys were tough enough mentally to win it anyway despite one hell of a game from Dayton, and Colorado was the quality of the team showing through.

I think they showed that they should be top 5

7 for me. Blowing the big lead was a big negative and led to us not playing better competition than we did. Also was disappointed at how tight the Dayton game was, some of what we saw from Tamin, and Milan’s first two games. On the flip side, we were arguably the 2nd best team in the tournament…and were very close to beating Auburn…so that’s encouraging. I also think our team chemistry will be there in March…and Auburn’s will not be.

Looking forward to another great test this Wednesday.

I said 7. We won two games, lost to the ranked team ahead of us by a basket. While media may have this in their heads right now, come tournament time, everyone will probably forget that we blew an 18 point lead.

You are not measuring up to my Kool-Aid expectations. Make that top 3.....

This ISU team is a final four team. Gilbert may be the best player in college basketball. If he is on the floor, he is an efficient 20 point per game player. You have two great spot up 3 shooters. You have 3 quality bigs, one who has the ability to create his own offense.

Without a doubt, this is the best ISU team in my lifetime and I am 60 years old. The Auburn game was a killer and will probably cost ISU a #1 seed in the NCAA tournament. And yes, it is very possible that ISU, Auburn and Kansas are the three best teams in the country. But seeding matters. It should protect you from having to play a great team on basically their home floor (like having to play Michigan State in Detroit in the elite 8).

This team is still capable of sweeping the Big 12 regular season and conference championship. And that is what they need to do. It is a high goal, but these guys are that good.
The 2000 team was the best in my lifetime. It's too early to say but this team looks the part of the 2nd best so far.
Gilbert and Lipsey are good but they are not Fizer/ Tinsley level good imo.

Respectfully, they have NOT yet proven to top the 2000 team, led by 2 All Americans.

The team was only 8 deep but tough as nails. I do believe this team this year can get to that level, but they have to prove it.

Yeah I can't get on board with projections based on what's happened in November. It should be a fun season but things ebb and flow.

Heck even by mid-February nobody knows what will happen a month later; things going well one week doesn't mean it automatically continues and vice versa.

Just hope the roller coaster is smoothing out at the right time.

The first half of the Auburn game was a glimpse into how we could consistently look by the end of the year. Fantastic basketball. I voted for 8.

8 for me as well. The big guys are going to get better defensively with more reps, I don’t think we’ve seen better than a C game out of Tamin yet, Heise/Indrusaitis are still getting up to speed as well. All that and we should have beat Auburn, beat a good Dayton team and wrecked Colorado.

Lots to be excited about. National Champs is clearly the ceiling for this group, they’ve got it all. Especially if Tamin rounds back into form. It’s been easy for me to forget that he’s coming off shoulder surgery.
Sounded like the commentators said he re-injured the shoulder. It definitely hindered his consistency last year. I thought maybe he'd injured his right arm considering his disastrous free thrown vs. Auburn.

8 for me. This team showed how good they are and how fragile they can be. Blowing a 16 point lead is something they need to learn from and move on. We didn’t ease up in the second half against Colorado or Dayton, which shows me the team knows they need to be better in late game situations.

100% that 99-00 team was and is the standard. There isn’t a Fizer on this team. There isn’t a Tinsley either.

That said, as great as Tinsley was, our combination of guards is better this year, and I absolutely love Kantrail Horton. I maintain that knowing full well Lipsey is not healthy, Lipsey, Gilbert and CuJo are the best backcourt we have ever had.

Jefferson and Jackson are NOT as good defensively, particularly on the hedge, as Bob and Ward were, but are both way better offensively.

Assuming Jefferson can stay engaged and if Milan can shoot it like he did the last couple games, this team as scary good.

Said this before Maui, still believe it.

My concern about our bigs is growing. Obviously still early, but I'm not seeing skills and abilities that will translate well to high major games.

So far.. Ward / Jones / King are superior to Hatfield / Jefferson / Jackson in my view.
