Feels like Oregon and MAYBE Texas and Georgia are elite. Everyone else, like 15 teams, are good but within a field goal of each other.

Are they though? Georgia didn't look elite last night. Two losses. Neither did Oregon when they played Boise. I''m not sure there is an elite team.

You are incorrect. The top 5 conference champions are selected, not top 4. Top 4 get byes.
And the way the rankings are sitting, the Big 12 winner is absolutely in, 100%.

A UNLV win over BSU would be great. Will be interesting to see where Clemson drops and if they beat SMU if they jump the Big 12 champ.

BYU needs to quit screwing around and put this thing away now.
So I was just comparing our schedule/results to theirs. If they beat Houston, they’d have a better resume than us. Basically the same conference wins, beat K-State by more, better conference loss (ASU compared to TT), better non-con win (SMU compared to Iowa). But our resumes are close.

Honestly, I’m not thinking either of us would be deserving of an at-large but they’d have the better argument IMO based on their win over SMU.

Oh I thought it was automatic regardless.
It is the 5 top ranked conference champions, and 7 at large.

Top 4 get byes.

So right now B1G champ, SEC Champ, ACC Champ, MTW Champ, then either the AAC or B12 Champ that get auto bid. With Tulane loss that should put the B12 solidly in the 5th champion spot.

The fact that your last sentence is even legitimate is f*cking pathetic by the committee. On no f*cking planet should B12 be FIFTH in this situation.

I don't think there are any elite teams this year. Even the ESPN talking heads realize just how much circular logic and outright hypocrisy they're having to implement to pretend the SEC still is this year.

I think they should take the 6 conference champs from the AAC, ACC, B10, B12, SEC and MW. The winner of the AAC will likely be the lowest ranked of the 6, but we're down to arguing about teams with 10-2 or 9-3 records as #11 and #12 in the playoffs. Screw them and just pick another conference champ.
