Some questions about the game:

1. Kansas State going for it on 4th down at their own 35ish with over 5 minutes to go. In some ways I liked the call (they only had 1 timeout left). But it made me laugh because there is no way Campbell would have done that and frankly our offense is at its best when we are trying to score with a couple of minutes left.

2. Kansas letting the play clock run down pretty far and then calling their last timeout with 2:16 left. What was the point in letting close to 30 seconds run off the clock there?

One other thought, we all talk about 100 years of this football program not meeting the moment. But honestly, that's not true. We've only been in the moment maybe 3-4 times. It's not like we have had chances to go to the conference championship games other than in 2005 and 2006. Or we were never in the mix for a conference championship before that.

1. I think they knew their run defense was cooked so they knew giving it back would let ISU close it out or at least drain lots of clock.

2. There was something in there where KSU was trying to time it out with the 2 minute time out and ISU trying to run another play/down.

***semantics but I think ISU had lateish season chances at a conference title some time in the 70s, and...it was '04 and '05.

The feeling at the ends of those seasons was a little different.

My feet got very cold. I’ll have to rethink that for next year. But everything else was fine. I didn’t even wear gloves.
I knew my feet would be cold but I over compensated with multiple layers of socks. My feet were sweating. Then the moisture made them cold. But really only thing I got cold as well.

I had wool socks and my waterproof hiking shoes. They were fine in the first half but then my toe warmers went out. I probably should have worn a second pair of socks. In previous years I’ve worn snow boots but they’ve been cold because they were slightly too big.

It wasn't cold like Lambeau in January. With good layers and maybe a blanket, it was actually fine. People basically stood for 90% of the game. Iowa stadium was full in the same temps...
I know 6 people that went to the game at "Iowa Stadium" the other night and they said it was 20-30% Nebraska fans.

Did K-State bring that many last night?

I wear my hiking boots as easier to go up steps to our nosebleed seats.

I think for layering socks, two wool pairs were overkill. Next time I might try thin socks under wool

“Kansas State can and will run on the Iowa State D”

Frankly, I expected that, too - but the Iowa State D really came to play and mostly shut down that run game. Didn’t Iowa State end up outgaining K-State on the ground, even against the conference’s best run defense? That was impressive.

I don't go to games so I have no vote but there's way, way, too many night games

Realizing it's a new era and TV control and all but there should only be a few a year. (in the good weather portion of the season).

I've had season tickets for 23 years now and this was the best from a fan perspective hands down. Best tailgating weather you could ask for and finally got double digit wins. Just an amazing season and really proud of the team and players and everything they accomplished. Congrats to them for making the championship game and amazing season regardless of what happens from here. These guys have earned every bit of it.
Well said! I saw my first ISU football game in 1978 so I've been waiting a long time for this! I bought four seats in Section V Row 11 on Thursday morning because I decided I wasn't going to miss history being made. Many thanks to my two adult sons (and one son's girlfriend) for accompanying me - apologies for the Perkins post-game meal! I can't stop smiling - enjoyed every second of the evening (except for the missed field goal - admittedly suffered flashbacks), from the honoring of the Seniors pre-game to the post-game slow-paced field occupation!

From my vantage point, the crowd was solid, lacking only in the Upper Deck Corners and Grass. A full house would have been nice, but I thought the fans answered the call!

In closing, somebody posted during the week they were making a sizeable wager on ISU, so as to fund their trip to Dallas should we prevail. Hat's off to you, sir - enjoy the game - I've got a good feeling about it!!! Go Cyclones!!!

Of Nebraska fans, or did Iowa fans wear red?

On my backpacking trips I wear 2 pairs of medium thick "Darn Tough" brand wool socks to sleep through freezing temp nights. I can hike in two pairs but usually don't need to if I'm moving. A wool base layer is also incredible, i do smartwool brand for that.

I was kind of a moron for dressing for freezing temps before I got into long distance backpacking and now it's like a hobby.
