“Kansas State can and will run on the Iowa State D”

Frankly, I expected that, too - but the Iowa State D really came to play and mostly shut down that run game. Didn’t Iowa State end up outgaining K-State on the ground, even against the conference’s best run defense? That was impressive.

Our entire defense was clearly focused on stopping the run and we did other than a few improvised scrambles. There's a reason that tight end looked like the greatest player of all time and Avery had a solid game throwing the ball.

Our run defense is back to being good enough with McLaughlin and Sadowsky. They know where to be, then make the tackle. Sadowsky took his lumps last year but looks really good, now

My feet got very cold. I’ll have to rethink that for next year. But everything else was fine. I didn’t even wear gloves.
Same, there is really only so much you can do to keep feet warm and not sweat (which makes it colder). I just stuffed handwarming in my boots and kept moving my feet

Fun game, I hope all those who had tickets and stayed home because of the temperature regrets it deeply. Should have been a full stadium.
Yup. My kid was sick but nutted up and went. His fried and’s little brother went too and we stayed till the end. Awesome, though my sick kid feels worse this morning….totally worth it.

I will say, I would much rather sit through a cold game like last night than a hot game like vs North Dakota. The heat sucks.

I don't go to games so I have no vote but there's way, way, too many night games

Realizing it's a new era and TV control and all but there should only be a few a year. (in the good weather portion of the season).
We just need to own it and make the Jack a force to be reckoned with in night games a la LSU.

His reaction post-game will also give you all the feels.

I really hope he can break a punt return next week or one of his sideline special catches. What a great to young man.

YouTube video (I haven't watched)

edit: now I watched it. He is complimentary to ISU and basically says ISU is now the team that fights to the end and KSU makes to many mistakes.

What a game....KSU made very costly errors and we got the right plays when needed. Far from solid offensive game, but defense dialed in when needed (come in, we all had the visions of a late KSU score/2 pt conversion for OT).

While Rocco was a bit off and the throws had some mustard, thankfully KSU couldn't catch them either

One play that was great was when it was before the end of the quarter and it looked like we were going to let the clock run out ...but did get a play in and KSU clearly wasn't expecting it.

On my backpacking trips I wear 2 pairs of medium thick "Darn Tough" brand wool socks to sleep through freezing temp nights. I can hike in two pairs but usually don't need to if I'm moving. A wool base layer is also incredible, i do smartwool brand for that.

I was kind of a moron for dressing for freezing temps before I got into long distance backpacking and now it's like a hobby.
Nice humble brag. :D

I thought the gameplan was pretty amazing other than a couple series on offense.

Pretty obvious we sold out to stop the run and it worked. Sure their tight end looked all world because of it but better than giving up 10-20 yard chunk running plays.

Well said! I saw my first ISU football game in 1978 so I've been waiting a long time for this! I bought four seats in Section V Row 11 on Thursday morning because I decided I wasn't going to miss history being made. Many thanks to my two adult sons (and one son's girlfriend) for accompanying me - apologies for the Perkins post-game meal! I can't stop smiling - enjoyed every second of the evening (except for the missed field goal - admittedly suffered flashbacks), from the honoring of the Seniors pre-game to the post-game slow-paced field occupation!

From my vantage point, the crowd was solid, lacking only in the Upper Deck Corners and Grass. A full house would have been nice, but I thought the fans answered the call!

In closing, somebody posted during the week they were making a sizeable wager on ISU, so as to fund their trip to Dallas should we prevail. Hat's off to you, sir - enjoy the game - I've got a good feeling about it!!! Go Cyclones!!!
The crowd looked and sounded great on TV. Hats off to the fans!

Does anyone have a clip of the video board that played in stadium near the end of the game with the movie clips of Hoosiers and Friday Night Lights, etc? That was incredible in the moment.

I gave us about a 40% chance going in, but when I saw our defense was selling out to stop their run and it was working my confidence went up dramatically.

I bet Avery Johnson is feeling that Orange sack this morning. Or should I say Orange Crush. Ouch

The announcers acted like it was an automatic penalty but his toes were actually kind of gliding on the ground.

I think it might just be the reality of how hard an ideal Orange Crush tackle really is. He's a massive athletic guy and he's gonna crush some people in the arena.
