At the risk of coming off as someone who's complaining after a win ... the game was fine! Happy with the team, fans, etc etc. Last night was great.
That said ... what was up with the pre-game stuff? It's been awhile since I've been to a game in-person at Hilton, so I know not everything is going to stay the same. I realize that 2 Unlimited probably had to go at some point, but it was just weird having a generic sounding song playing while the ISU starting lineup was being announced, with nothing to clap along to. I have an old video from the Michigan game almost a decade ago, and the energy was just so much different: the starters would be announced, which would eventually give way into "Let's Go State!" chants right up to the tip. The Cyclone Power chant was also missing last night (pre-game, not during the game), and there was this awkward attempt at cranking an air raid siren that sounded more like a dying cat.
Again ... this is not my attempt to pour water on a big win. A big part of the environment at Hilton are the traditions and routines, which worked to perfection in the past, but last night... something felt off. Please tell me I'm not alone on this.
