At the risk of coming off as someone who's complaining after a win ... the game was fine! Happy with the team, fans, etc etc. Last night was great.

That said ... what was up with the pre-game stuff? It's been awhile since I've been to a game in-person at Hilton, so I know not everything is going to stay the same. I realize that 2 Unlimited probably had to go at some point, but it was just weird having a generic sounding song playing while the ISU starting lineup was being announced, with nothing to clap along to. I have an old video from the Michigan game almost a decade ago, and the energy was just so much different: the starters would be announced, which would eventually give way into "Let's Go State!" chants right up to the tip. The Cyclone Power chant was also missing last night (pre-game, not during the game), and there was this awkward attempt at cranking an air raid siren that sounded more like a dying cat.

Again ... this is not my attempt to pour water on a big win. A big part of the environment at Hilton are the traditions and routines, which worked to perfection in the past, but last night... something felt off. Please tell me I'm not alone on this.

I like what they are trying to do with the hand crank siren, but you are right it sounds terrible, and doesnt really work for what they are trying to do. Wish it did but a real siren sounds much more menacing and intense.

A "Nothing to clap along to" complaint, from a fan base that couldn't clap along to Jock Jams?

I was watching on TV so I can't say anything about pre-game but I am always perplexed by all the people sitting down at tipoff. Like I'm assuming they were standing for the player intros and all that, why sit down and lose that energy as the game starts? Maybe I'm just used to being in the student section but come on its a top 10 match up lol.

Part of me feels like a sliver of the fanaticism of Hilton is missing these last couple years but again I haven't been in Ames to watch a game in a while, maybe it's just ESPN quality going down or something.
(also turn the dang lights back on, I'll never let go of that gripe lol, hate the "new" dim lighting)

I also miss Get Ready pre-game. Sure it's old and repetitive but it gets the people going!

Yep. If they're going to replace it they need something better, or just bring what worked back.

Its weird, with how much they have improved the in-game atmosphere at JTS this year, it kind of felt like it had taken a bit of a step back yesterday (yesterday being my first game I could make this year), and that started with the poor intro song.

I agree, They need to go back to the clapping etc during intros to foster coward involvement. What you saw last night was the way it's been this season. I do like the "I want the Magic" video and the TJ announcement to get the crowd hyped. but, the period starting at the intros and ending at tip needs work

Yes! I wasn’t able to make it to a FB game this year, but last year was my first time going in awhile too, and I was wowed by the massive improvement the JTS environment has seen since I was in school. I don’t know why Hilton has taken a step back, because we have the same loud fans as we’ve always had.

Thank you, that song is great and love the TJ intro. I also expected the students would start picking up on the Pitbull “I believe that we will win” cover but there wasn’t much involvement there either.

Whoever was in charge of the music, videos, and game day atmosphere for the football game vs KSU, please do Hilton’s.
That video montage with Happy Gilmore leading into Motley Crue towards the end of the game was creative and epic. Do something like that leading into tip off. More energy and noise!

I am not the fan base, I can clap along just fine. I don't care if other people have a problem staying in rhythm.

Wait, the audience figured out how to clap in rhythm?!?!

In all my years we thought it was funny how nobody could clap in rhythm with jock jams.
