Not to rain on any parades, and i'm sure plenty of posters have voiced this, but how are any of you getting excited about this game? I love Iowa State. I love college football. I'll watch and cheer hard for the Cyclones. But these games have never been less interesting or valued. No way I would make the trip to Orlando. Might as well save that cash for March trips that mean something.
I’m saving my money for Jonesboro, Arkansas trip next September

Excited or not, it is an important game for ISU. Beating Miami, finishing 11-3 with a nice (top 15) ranking beats the hell out of finishing 10-4 with a two-game losing streak and unranked (which ISU will be if they lose to Miami). Additionally, if Miami's studs play, and they play with a purpose, ISU might be run off the field worse than ASU. I cannot go to the game, but I definitely care about the outcome.

That's a lot of CYA right there!

Some people really like to buy the name crap like the ESPN folks push.

Honestly, I’m debating between the bowl game and the two basketball games in Arizona.

Totally agree, but 10-4 with a good showing against Miami is still a fantastic season.

I don't know if I've been this relatively unenthused for a bowl before, and last year's bowl was definitely the turning point for me.

No, it’s the defeatist attitudes of post like yours I responded to. Who has Miami beaten this year?
That is not the end all be all, and not the point. Both teams played who they played and each won 10 games. Miami has some really serious talent on their team - especially Ward and Martinez (who I have seen play in person and was impressed at that time). Furthermore, I'm not being defeatest. I want ISU to win. I think they can win. I think ISU winning the game is more important than losing the game. I think it matters. I will watch the game. However, THE ISU PLAYERS have to want to win and do the work. It's not going to be easy - especially if the talented Miami players are motivated and prepared too. If both teams are into the game, we could see a great Pop-Tarts Bowl. I sure hope so! I want ISU to finish 11-3 and not 10-4 and Miami to finish 10-3 instead of 11-2.

I get where you are coming from, but here’s what you do, drink some beer ( good amount) think about the 11 win Cyclones beating Miami to end the season. Before you know it the flights are booked and you are in. (Book non refundable they are cheaper).

Can confirm this is a highly effective tactic for booking Cyclone post-season trips.

Imo the playoff stuff has made everything else anti-climactic.

The excitement for bowls has eroded a lot the last 4-5 years and this year they're a total afterthought.

I'm pretty excited about this matchup. Would be great to get 11 wins and end the year with a win against a brand name program. @isufbcurt no cheering for the Hurricanes in this one!

I won't be cheering for Miami don't worry, but I won't be cheering against them either.

Kind of like ASU (my stepdaughter graduated from there so they are my 2nd Big 12 team), I wasn't cheering for them but I wasn't cheering against them either.
