There's no reason they can't be damn good next year with...

...

Milan as a junior? I'm assuming he's gone to the NBA but maybe not?

No reason TJ can't keep this rollin' from there...
If you would've asked me at the start of conference play last season, I would've said absolutely.

I'm no NBA scout, but to me, the defensive report seems to be out on him. If/when he can figure out to play a bit faster than he prefers, or lean into his size more effectively he could be unstoppable. It seems like he's affected by teams being physical with him, or rushing his process.

I'd personally be surprised at this point if he goes as I don't see him being Rd1 at this point, but I could certainly be wrong.

I'd personally recommend him devour Jokic tape. He has a way of moving at his own pace and making his game work.

Is Moore the only incoming freshman designated specifically as a PG? Also not sure how much reliance there might be on first-year augmenting point to develop behind Lipsey, so maybe we're seeking transfer at that spot? Not sure if that's hard to find in portal, maybe combo guard is more realistic?

As you can tell, I'm not a recruiting expert.

Right now I don't think there's a shot Milan goes to the draft. He's going to have to play far better consistently. As for everyone else back next year, there are a lot of unknowns. Likely going to have 1-2 guys transfer out. Not even going to get into the conversation of who, but that's just the way of the world.

I'd say there is a very good shot we grab a Keshon replacement. Heise and Nojus coming off the bench, Rock playing the Chatfield role (hopefully) and then Batemon sliding into Nojus role this year. That's 9 guys right there and we rarely go past that.

There's no reason they can't be damn good next year with...

Senior Tamin
Senior Presidents
Heise and Nojus step into the primary guard roles
Watson for depth

Plus maybe...

Milan as a junior? I'm assuming he's gone to the NBA but maybe not?
Hopefully some stud guard transfer wants to come in to replace Gilbert and Jones?
Maybe Batemon or one of the other freshman has an instant impact?
One of the other guys on the roster (e.g., Rock) really "clicks?"

They don't need much for next year as it stands. Very high floor.

A few key additions could keep the ceiling as high as it is this year (e.g., legit FF and NC contender).

No reason TJ can't keep this rollin' from there...
Doesn’t seem like Milan has asserted himself to a position that he’s ready to declare but who knows.

Honestly assuming we add a Chatfield replacement ( not sure Rock is ready) and an impact big guard and we’re right back to where we’re at now.

Agreed. There's so much of Niang's game in Milan's style.

It's fun in college, but really does not translate well to the NBA. Niang had to completely remake himself as a player once he got to the league.

I think Milan will have to put up significantly different numbers in conference play than he is right now to leave after this season.
Milan doesn’t have that killer instinct and disappears a lot. The inconsistency is a head scratcher. I get that this team is deep with a lot of scorers so different guys will lead the box score in points on different nights, but the teams Niang played on were also deep and he was a consistent threat. Right now Milan just isn’t an NBA caliber guy. Potential is there but he needs to be a lot more aggressive.

I think he needs to develop a couple go-to moves to free himself up. Seems like teams hang a defender close enough to him to be in the vicinity at the catch. If he could drive past enough of them, they couldn't guard so close, so maybe add that plus a step back.

Next year we're looking for a PG/CG with multiple years left to fill in for KG, Jiggy and back up lipsey. And a Chatfield type to compete with JT for minutes backing up the presidents.

My apologies if the answer to this is common knowledge or easily found somewhere, but I'm seeing quite a few seniors on this year's men's basketball team and curious if any of them will have any type of eligibility left after this year? Things are just weird now-a-days with COVID years, medical redshirts... etc, so I just never know. Here is who all is listed as Seniors on ISU's website:

Nate Heise
Dishon Jackson
Curtis Jones
Keshon Gilbert
Brandon Chatfield

Can anyone help me out? Would love to see ANY of them come back if possible.
There's a scholarship chart on this site. Left side under the "basketball" drop down menu. Then click "men's scholarship chart". It doesn't specifically say "covid year" but pretty sure it is up to date on when a guy's last season of eligibility is.

Way up there
For those of you saying Milan might go: he's not getting drafted. The dude hasn't shown he has NBA athleticism yet. The jump shot and fadeaway turnaround shot are great, but until he's quicker and more athletic with it, he's going to stay in college. This year, he hasn't shown any flashes of being NBA ready. He's going to be here at least one more year.
Anyone scout watching probably notices we can't play him on defense. He has sat down the stretch every close game we've had this year. He came here to prove he can guard wings but its clear TJ doesn't fully trust him yet. His offense won't matter until he proves that. The silver lining is, he'll be a 4 year college player.

When Milan is scoring, this team is almost unstoppable, but those games that it has happens are not often. The guy just has not stepped up as much as one would think a potential draft pick would. I mean there are games he totally disappears from the stat line like he did against EIU. Where we sit right now, no way is going to get drafted after his season

Milan starts for almost any team. We all can see that his ceiling is ridiculously high. Yes he has some growing yet to do, but it's not like he's a liability in any phase of the game. His defense has improved, rebounding has greatly improved. It just happens that we've got a fantastic team and can pick our guys for what their suited for best.

In my opinion, we're seeing the best case scenario for ISU at the moment. Steady growth. If he suddenly found his shot consistently, he'd be a lottery pick without a doubt.

My guess is they prioritize grabbing a guard in the portal. We won’t retain all the bench guys for another season. You never feel good about speculation it hard to imagine Watson and Fish will want to continue being on the deep bench.

TJ is in the enviable position that, depending on unexpected departures, he can mainly go get guys that he wants, but doesn't necessarily need. He can offer a lot to a guy who is a great fit in terms of style and culture - but with the 4 freshman coming in plus what is expected to be returning, if he misses, it's fine. But of course, TJ basically never misses in the portal
