Agree, he's not a super athletic prospect but at the same time he's not shooting a high volume of shots either that might increase his press. For those of you saying Milan might go: he's not getting drafted. The dude hasn't shown he has NBA athleticism yet. The jump shot and fadeaway turnaround shot are great, but until he's quicker and more athletic with it, he's going to stay in college. This year, he hasn't shown any flashes of being NBA ready. He's going to be here at least one more year.
Moore is a true PGIs Moore the only incoming freshman designated specifically as a PG? Also not sure how much reliance there might be on first-year augmenting point to develop behind Lipsey, so maybe we're seeking transfer at that spot? Not sure if that's hard to find in portal, maybe combo guard is more realistic?
As you can tell, I'm not a recruiting expert.
"With Keshon and Cut being seniors, definitely, need to address in the backcourt our ability to defend, our ability to score, playmaking, point guard play," Otzelberger said. "All of those things, I felt like, that was one huge priority for us. And I feel like Killyan, Macari and Jamarion have those attributes and traits."
Perhaps Blum will pay Milan more than a second round selection will
Have you seen Mitchell play???Moore is a true PG
Batemon is a combo guard - from the little I've seen, he reminds me a lot of Keshon, where he can play off the ball primarily, but on the ball when needed
Mitchell is a slashing wing - good athlete, plus defender but limited offensively at this point. His comp to me is Watson, but hopefully better offensive upside. He probably ends up as a '4'.
Toure is basically an unknown, but is considered another combo guard - I'm guessing he's more of a project though.
This was TJ's quote on signing day:
We haven't really seen it since Lipsey, and that was just by dumb luck, but I think next year we may actually have major contributions from a freshman. I would put my money on Batemon potentially being in the rotation at the beginning of the year.
Enjoy these times, folks. These are the "good times." Pretty extraordinary what TJ has accomplished from where we were when he arrived. There's no reason they can't be damn good next year with...
Senior Tamin
Senior Presidents
Heise and Nojus step into the primary guard roles
Watson for depth
Plus maybe...
Milan as a junior? I'm assuming he's gone to the NBA but maybe not?
Hopefully some stud guard transfer wants to come in to replace Gilbert and Jones?
Maybe Batemon or one of the other freshman has an instant impact?
One of the other guys on the roster (e.g., Rock) really "clicks?"
They don't need much for next year as it stands. Very high floor.
A few key additions could keep the ceiling as high as it is this year (e.g., legit FF and NC contender).
No reason TJ can't keep this rollin' from there...
That's a good point. While he's a monster at the turnaround shot he doesn't really show that he's capable of a step back shot. I wonder if he has quick enough feet for this to be a go to move for him. His feet don't seem super quick, so maybe that's why we don't really see him do it ever. The NBA loves a good, quick step back shot. Milan will need to show he's capable of that at a high level before scouts really consider him to be NBA material. He also needs to show he's a better driver and finisher. I forgot which game it was (I'm thinking it was Marquette), but he went from the corner and took it in hard for a dunk. We need to see more of that.I think he needs to develop a couple go-to moves to free himself up. Seems like teams hang a defender close enough to him to be in the vicinity at the catch. If he could drive past enough of them, they couldn't guard so close, so maybe add that plus a step back.
Yes. Can't remember where, but he chose another school.Has the Virginia player we were recruting in the portal made a decision yet?
Jalen Warley, for those wondering the name. (I had to search it myself). A&M also was in the mix.The Virginia player went to Gonzaga
Are you suggesting that fans are down on Milan, and are not giving him his credit for being a very good shooter and a key contributor to this team?In regards to Momcilovic...the dude is shooting 47% from 3 this year! Come on guys!
What do you want from the guy? More assertiveness? Sure. TJ is telling him to HUNT his shot. In Maui, Gilbert was playing like a 1st team All-American and was dominating the ball (as he should have). We have one of the best pure scoring guards in the country in Jones. Jefferson is absolutely emerging and is going to demand the ball. Jackson scores on the block at an extremely high level.
This team is LOADED. Milan will have his games when he goes off. He is not going to score consistently like Niang on a night to night basis though. WE DO NOT NEED HIM TO!

Agreed and a good part of the reason Gilbert gets into the lane at will is because we have shooters to space the floor. In regards to Momcilovic...the dude is shooting 47% from 3 this year! Come on guys!

I mean, yes, there seems to be a negative tone surrounding his play so far this season. I guess I dont understand it.Are you suggesting that fans are down on Milan, and are not giving him his credit for being a very good shooter and a key contributor to this team?
I really like Milan and I agree that we don't need him to be the leading scorer this year. I think what it feels like with him is he'll fill it up one game and hit 4-5 3's then he'll go 0'fer the next. I think what we'd like to see is a little more consistency game to game.In regards to Momcilovic...the dude is shooting 47% from 3 this year! Come on guys!

That's what I gleaned from the analysis, not that Milan isn't contributing, but how it might affect him being NBA prospect, or whether he's able to showcase it with so many other options available on offense.that is all true
I think the point is, as the 3rd or 4th offensive option he's less likely to leave early for NBA
He has scored in double figures in 7 of our 10 games and is shooting 47% from three. I guess what I am trying to say is the guy isn't going to drop 12+ every night out. We are too deep and have too many guys that are going to have their night.I really like Milan and I agree that we don't need him to be the leading scorer this year.
