Remember when Roy took North Carolina to UNI because he had the Cedar Rapids kid (Paige?), who ended up hurt and didn't play and UNI won. NC #2 at the time IIRC.

I get the vibe UConn is going to climb into 1 seed territory within the next few weeks. The Maui Oh-fer could become a footnote (any "damage" from that will be minimal). I don't see a ton of resistance in the Big East schedule. Additional losses will occur, but I'm not sure it'll be much.

Way up there
I had to do a double take when seeing bama playing North Dakota on the road. that has to be record for highest ranked team coming into North Dakota to play?
I guess one of bama's best players is from ND.
Grant Nelson, he played at NDSU and was a big time get for them in the portal. This must have been part of the deal.

I don't know what makes you think that. They just about lost at home to an unranked Xavier team, and lost to Colorado which is now a certifiably bad loss. They've got a lot of work to do and if the Big East is down this year that doesn't really help their cause.

ISU has been great, but they're not the only team in the big 12 "that hasn't been an outright disappointment."

WVU was predicted dead last in the big 12, and arguably has the big 12's best nonconference win. colo. also knocked off a top team. kansas has been disappointing, as has houston. baylor getting beat like toy state by zags was a really bad look too.

i'd agree the top big 12 teams, aside from ISu, have not performed.

people care about West Virginia?

They are really going to have to get on a huge conference run for a 1 seed now. Especially if us, Tennessee and Auburn continue to dominate

I think uconn will be a top 3 seed for sure once they get it figured out and probably won't have to leave a 100 mile radius until the Final Four.

but my goodness, the SEC is on a dang war path in basketball. WTH

Why Michigan? What were you doing? Up 4 and you AND 1 foul OU on a 3 pointer and lose in the last 10 seconds?
settle for a 3 down 1. Jeez
We are going to have our work cut out getting a 1-2 seed this year with all the SEC Schools alone.

I don't even think there was a foul on that shot. Didn't touch him.

And then a huge foul on the rebound on the other end ignored.

Michigan kind of got ****** at the end there.

I could be wrong, certainly. I was vague with "have a feeling," but 2 seed wouldn't surprise me.

Colorado loss currently is a Quad 2 loss. That might drop as season continues. "Almost" losing to Xavier at home doesn't count against you.

I agree (and mentioned in another response) opportunities to boost profile in BE might be a challenge, running somewhat counter to my "not much resistance."

Eh, they barely beat #59 Kenpom-ranked Xavier at home. They'll climb the AP rankings for sure if they keep winning because it's UConn so they pass the "eye test" but I don't think they're a top 10 team this year, certainly not top 5. Xavier is a small team who had no answer for their big guy who is a solid player but not usually a huge offensive threat, that was the difference yesterday.

I will say (if current trends in performance optimistically hold all year) that if someone more deserving has to get screwed out of a 1-seed so that UConn can have one again, Iowa State is as prime candidate for that honor.

Auburn
Tennessee
Duke
Iowa State
UConn

Who gets left out there by "the committee"? I know who I'd bet on, unfortunately.

Either Auburn or Tennessee will drop down. The SEC is legitimately good enough that they won’t come out of that league unscathed. While the Big12 is down, it’s still better than the ACC and Big East. So if ISU comes out with a solid record, they’ll be fine.

But seed lines are only one piece of the puzzle. Getting Midwest sites in the NCAA tournament is more important. Getting either Wichita or Milwaukee then Indianapolis would be worth dropping a line if needed. I’d worry that with ISU being the furthest West team of that group that they’d send us to the West regional if we stay a 1 seed.

Doubt it. The narrative this year is already that the SEC is so strong. All those losses will be "quality losses".

That was the same thinking as the last time we had a 1-seed-caliber team (2000) and got hosed so that the Pac-12 could have two 1-seeds. At least we got to play the first two rounds in Minneapolis. The problem then is you end up playing what is essentially the national championship game in the elite 8 in what's essentially a home game for your opponent.
