Very cool! Diante was so fun to watch when he was suited up for the Clones. I love this addition! Welcome back, DG!

His Senior season was so special. It's like a light bulb went on. Played a TON of minutes and guided us back into what ISU bball should be.

His career arc is both success and tragedy.

Played 30+ minutes/game for two years but only 9ish points, then averaged 17 ppg his senior year.

Also had a great game in that win at KSU to close out the '09-10 regular season finale.

This is great! Congrats, DG! Always enjoyed watching him play. Other others have mentioned that hopefully this helps with recruiting out of Wisconsin because at some point a couple of guys from TJ's staff will get plucked, and rightfully so.

DG & Brackins were very fun players to watch. Welcome back Diante!

I still don't know how this lineup...

Garrett
Staiger/Christopherson
Gilstrap
Brackins
Hamilton

...wasn't at least an NCAA tournament team.

Yeah, it wasn't going to be playing much defense, but it should have been able to outscore enough people to at least limp into some sort of postseason in the weaker version of the Big 12 back then.

I still remember asking (somewhat rhetorically but somewhat not) @Alswelk...

"Where the hell was this the past three years?"

...when DG made a particularly athletic, spectacular play at the rim that fall.

His response summarized it perfectly --

"McDermott told him not to."

Lucca Staiger, I'm big guy and refuse to rebound, let me shoot the three. Wasn't sad when he left.

Thats when you knew it was just over. Not just not making the tourney, I think they finished last.

Gilstrap averaged a double double in conference play and we went 4-12 in conference. It’s actually mind boggling.
