You're pretty naive. Dude is about to be a millionaire, you don't risk that in a meaningless bowl game. CFP is a different matter, but the Pop Tarts Bowl? No way. Not if you're a lottery pick.

Cam Ward is currently a millionaire. He’s getting around 2 million dollars to play this year according to the people tracking this stuff. Pay for play has changed the game. With the amounts these high level players are getting paid, I hope to see them being required to play every game they are able, with penalties for not playing.

Worried about injury? That’s what insurance is for.

And tell me, why is the CFP any different? It’s not. You can get hurt in any game. What’s stopping these players from “opting out” after they get eliminated from CFP contention in the regular season?

Nothing is stopping players from opting out of regular season games. In fact, that's exactly what Iowa cornerback, Jermari Harris, did this year.

Harris situation is different than Townsend. Most of the regular season opt outs are to preserve eligibility, not to prepare for the draft. I didn’t hear of any other players that did what Harris did, not saying it didn’t happen, but I never heard.

Looking at the staff picks…I think Mahoney has this one right. Can’t see ISU scoring more than 21-24 points at best. If they do it’s been an outstanding game. Problem is…Miami will likely score a lot more.

Carson Beck went from being one of the top three QBs in the NFL draft to a fourth or fifth round pick due to the injury he sustained at the end of the SEC championship playing for Georgia. He had to play in that game, of course, but I have no idea why Ward would risk anything over the Pop Tarts Bowl.

This…we've faced defenses that are supposedly weak against the pass or run and we are the one team that can’t take advantage.

TTU had some starting DB's out that were suddenly healthy against us also. Classic ISU luck

I have a gut feeling this is going to play out similar to the Big12 title game and feel like the Notre Dame bowl game from a few years ago.

All Miami has to do is roll Cam Ward outside the pocket and let him shoot ducks on the pond and if nothing is there, just scramble. I would do that 3 out of 4 plays.

true, but I still don't like the fact that Tech gave up 300 yards passing to colorado the very next game and also 48 points/400 yards passing to Okie state the game after that. Yet we have the two of the best receivers we have seen in a while and put up 22 points/200 yards passing at home.

100% agree with this. Certain games against weaker pass defenses it felt like we didnt alter our gameplan offensively whatsoever. the 3rd and 10 QB draw against tech still pisses me off.

Imagine the stats Noel and Higgins could have put up...

Lol, he was not going to be a top 3 qb. His draft stock fell because he didn't play well, not because of his injury.
