Should have been a last minute drive. Instead we left them with an opportunity for a last minute drive and a timeout. Look, I understand it worked out, and I'm happy it did, but it could have been handled so much better.

Did you want Noel to go backwards after the catch to make ISU have to need more yards/time to score?

You should send an email to coach letting him know his 11th win is tainted due to scoring too soon. We can be better.

One thing I noticed after watching it again, Zac Lovett was everywhere, I wonder if he might be a guy that could take a big step and fill some of those holes at linebacker. Thought he was excellent when he was in there. Physically he can be that run stopping linebacker we were missing for sure.

You serious? You have 1st and goal from the 4 and throw 3 incomplete passes. Yes, one of them they were called for a defensive holding. But my goodness, the clock was huge at that point.

I will say it again, the playcalling was great for almost the whole game.

It's called misdirection. As you saw after the penalty, if it's 1 or 2 yards, we decided we could win that battle. 4 yards was a different beast.

He is too slow in coverage, but I wonder if he could put another 15 lbs on and put his hand on the ground. Help fill the TO spot.

I agree with this and makes me wonder why we didn't see more of him throughout the year. Was he dinged up or in the doghouse? Because most of our other LB's are objectively bad. I also noticed Goodwin playing more than he has for some time and was wondering if we were missing some LB's in addition to the ones who have been done for the whole season? Anyway, we need a portal guy or huge improvement from the LB's.

I thought James impressed for the last few games and Neal was pretty good yesterday, so hopefully the secondary has some replacements already in line.

Did Higgins officially opt out? It’s weird that he went through warmups and then decided to sit.

It was clear from the outset that the coaches decided to get the points and not care about the clock. I don't know if you remember but earlier in the season we had a turnover on downs failing to score 1st and goal inside the 5.

Play #1, 2:00 check into a play that looks 100% like a Hanson run to the right. Get Alston 1v1 against a corner. Should have easily been PI.

Play #2, 1:56 heavy look, play action pass. Get the defensive holding call.

Play #3, 1:52 I formation, direct snap to Hanson. Dive to the 1.

Play #4, 1:16 pass look shifted into run look, but if you're paying attention you're expecting this to be a run look based on who is in for WR and TE. Ended up being play action. Rocco rolled out to his left and had the pass deflected. Had a guy wide open if he could have gotten it there.

Play #5 1:05, I formation, Hanson dive to the 1.

Play #6, 0:56 Quick snap QB sneak TD with Noel on sweep action.

Ah, gotcha thought you were talking about the whole drive in general.

But what if they score on a dive on that first down at the four?

Dumb away I guess.

I won't agree with probably. We've shut down better guys.
As someone else noted, Ward played the entire game against Syracuse and they still lost. I think Iowa State is better than Syracuse.

And as still someone else noted, with Ward in the game Miami led for 16 seconds. With Ward in the game Iowa State led for almost 10 minutes.

I guess you all can call me dumb along with @andybernard because I too (along with just about everyone I know) were screaming for more run plays at the end of the game, due to the clock situation. Especially from the 4 yd line...

I agree with that aspect but more because a QB dive is a strength. What happens if ISU scores on a first down run there? Bad scheme?
